Sophie Lara Winkleman is an English actress who is popularly known for appearing as ‘Big Suze’ in the sitcom ‘Peep Show’. Before appearing on the small screen, Winkleman had worked extensively in theatre, appearing in various plays. She went on to feature in many television shows after an impressive performance in ‘Waking the Dead’. She has also worked on a few good roles on the silver screen. She portrayed the older self of ‘Susan’ in the film ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. Other than being a well-known figure in the show business, Winkleman is also popular for marrying Lord Frederick Windsor. Due to her marriage to the son of Queen Elizabeth II’s first cousin, she is known as Lady Frederick Windsor.

Sophie Winkleman’s journey as an actress started when she joined Cambridge University Footlights Dramatic Club. She started writing and performing for the group. The group also toured Britain for a long period and performed their acts. They received a nomination for the Perrier Award. After her time at the Cambridge Footlights, Winkleman joined National Youth Theatre where she appeared in numerous acts. She spent a season at the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in many popular plays. She featured in director Laurence Boswell’s adaptation of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as ‘Veronique’. She then worked with the legendary theatre director Sir Peter Reginald Frederick Hall. Winkleman appeared in multiple productions of Peter Hall, including ‘Man and Superman’ and ‘Galileo's Daughter’.
Sophie Winkleman has mostly worked on television in her acting career that started in the late 1990s. She portrayed the character of ‘Joely’ in the miniseries ‘White Teeth’ which was her first credited appearance on television. She appeared on the show ‘Waking the Dead’ for two episodes and was lauded for her performance. She was nominated by BBC in the Best Newcomer category for her role of ‘Joanna Gold/Clara Gold’ in the show. Winkleman continued appearing in special roles on various television shows.
In the 2000s, she featured in ‘Keen Eddie’, ‘Poirot’, and ‘Dalziel and Pascoe’, before landing the role of ‘Princess Eleanor’ in the miniseries ‘The Palace’. Sophie Winkleman has been part of the show ‘Ruddy Hell! It's Harry and Paul’ since its inception in 2007. In four seasons, she appeared alongside Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, playing various characters. The last season of the show was aired in 2014; Winkleman was not part of. In the popular sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men’, she appeared as ‘Zoey’ between 2011 and 2015. Sophie Winkleman was born on August 5, 1980, in Primrose Hill, London, to Cindy Black and Barry Winkleman. Her mother is a children’s author, and her father has published books like ‘Times Atlas of World History.’ Winkleman attended the City of London School for Girls before joining Trinity Hall in Cambridge.
Sophie Winkleman married Lord Frederick Windsor on September 12, 2009, at the Hampton Court Palace. The couple had a daughter, Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina, on August 15, 2013. Almost three years later, Winkleman gave birth to her second daughter, Isabella Alexandra May, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Despite earning the title Lady Frederick Windsor due to her marriage, she still uses her original legal name in her profession.
In December 2017, Sophie Winkleman was involved in a head-on car crash. She suffered injuries on her back and foot when another car hit her car while trying to avoid hitting a deer. She didn’t suffer any long term injuries.
