Scotty Cranmer is an American bicycle motocross (BMX) rider who shares the record with Dave Mirra for winning the most number of BMX Park medals at X Games. Winning three each in gold, silver and bronze, Scotty has an impressive tally of 9 medals in just fourteen appearances. He also has a YouTube channel in which he posts videos of him performing stunts on bikes and cars, along with his friends. The channel has managed to amass over a million subscribers and more than 200 million views over a period of two years. He is the first rider to perform a ‘front flip tailwhip’ in a competition and a ‘seat stand front flip’ on YouTube. He has participated in a number of competitions and has been sponsored by brands like Hyper Bikes, Vans Shoes and Pro-tec Helmets. He owns a bike shop that also sells fancy safety gears. He has also appeared as himself in movies like ‘Hella Crazy’ and ‘Next X’ which has inspired youngsters to take up riding. He met with a serious accident while shooting for a commercial of Monster Energy Drinks. He suffered another major setback when he injured his back while competing in the 2016 X Games.

Rise to Stardom
Scotty Cranmer won his first gold medal at the X Games held in 2016. He then went on to win 8 more medals in a surprisingly short period of time.

Career
After completing high school, Scotty turned into a professional rider in 2005. He is renowned for landing the first ever ‘front flip – tailwhip’ in a competition.
He has participated in a number of competitions including ‘AST Dew Tour’, ‘Vans Let it Ride Street Contest’ and ‘The Cool Challenge’. He has won many of such competitions and has secured the second position more than once.
He is sponsored by Hyper Bikes, Vans Shoes, Fox Clothing, Monster Energy Drink, Pro-tec Helmets and Snafu. He has endorsed their products by using them in various competitions. He has also featured in many of their commercials.
Scotty Cranmer owns a bike shop called ‘SC Action Sports Bicycle Shop’ in Howell, New Jersey. The store is one of the leading retail outlets for sports gears and is instrumental in popularizing the sport across New Jersey.
He appeared as himself in movies like ‘Hella Crazy’ (2008), ‘Next X’ (2009) and ‘Illustrated’ (2016) where he performed daring stunts on his bike.
Family & Personal Life
Scotty Cranmer was born on 11 January, 1987 in Jackson Township, New Jersey to Donna and Scot. He has a younger brother named Matty who is a regular guest on his YouTube video channel. His parents own an inline skate club in Lakewood.
He studied at Jackson Memorial High School before becoming a professional BMX rider at the age of 18. As a child, he was inspired by Mat Hoffman who became a professional BMX rider at the age of 15.
Scotty is nicknamed ‘The Bulldozer’ by his contemporaries because of his daring stunts and never-say-die attitude.
In October 2016, he met with a serious accident while shooting for a commercial. While performing a stunt, the front wheel of his bike got caught in a hole which sent him flying into the air. He suffered from several facial fractures, damages to his vertebrae and intra-cerebral hemorrhage, for which he had to be hospitalized.
He had another setback when he seriously injured his back while competing in one of the X Games. Throughout his surgery and subsequent recovery, his fans closely monitored his condition on social media and supported him through various campaigns and donation drives by joining hands with organizations like ‘Road 2 Recovery Foundation’. He made good progress and soon got back to his feet with the help of a crutch.
The entire journey of his recovery has been captured and uploaded on YouTube. The video has gained wide viewership. The surgery involved giving him a prosthetic forehead which he joked about by telling his fans that he felt like Frankenstein.
Scotty is married to Lisa, who has been his biggest support during his ups and downs. They live along with their family which comprises of Scotty’s parents. They also have a pet dog.
