Rise to Fame
SAS-ASMR had an ordinary career before she became a YouTube sensation. To make ends meet in Canada, she worked as a bartender and a retail employee in a mall. She used to live with her sister. However, YouTube’s growing platform gave her a chance to make it big. She created her channel in 2016 and uploaded her first video, ‘ASMR Sushi Dynamite Roll Mukbang,’ in November. SAS tapped into the ASMR craze early. ASMR became a slow cult in itself and grew viral by word of mouth. ASMR, the abbreviation for autonomous sensory meridian response, is the sensation that a body feels when it has been exposed to triggers that light up the user’s sensory memories. The whispering, slow audio and enhanced noises are meant to induce a state of relaxation and sleep among viewers. While ASMR topics on the Internet are wide and endless, SAS concentrated on something she knew best – food.
