Robert Arthur “Rob” Knox was a British actor who is best remembered for playing Marcus Belby in the movie ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.’ He had also signed to reprise the role in the sequel ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. Unfortunately, he met a tragic end before he could start working in the film. Knox was stabbed to death in May 2008 outside a bar while trying to defend his younger brother from a man named Karl Bishop. His killer was later sentenced to life imprisonment. Although Knox was active in the entertainment industry only for a very short period, he was successful in earning moderate fame owing to his association with the highly popular ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise. He was a good actor whose acting skills were par excellence. Knox was kind and considerate in real life and would always help out others. He was very outgoing and loved meeting and talking to new people. The actor was highly respectful to others. His untimely death left the entire acting industry in shock.

Career
Rob Knox started acting at the age of 11. His first credited role was a minor part in an episode of ITV’s police drama series ‘The Bill’. He then appeared in ‘Trust Me, I'm a Teenager’, a reality show. After this, he was featured as Josh in two episodes of the BBC comedy drama series ‘After You've Gone’. The actor later made an appearance in the TV show ‘Tonight with Trevor McDonald’.
Knox’s first film role was in the 2004 British-American historical flick ‘King Arthur’. However, he was not credited for the role. In 2007, Knox was cast in the role of Marcus Belby in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, the screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's best-selling work and the 6th installment of the ‘Harry Potter’ movie series. The film was released posthumously in the year 2009. Knox was also signed to reprise his role as Marcus Belby in the final chapter of the ‘Harry Potter’ movie series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’.

Rob Knox was born on 21 August 1989 in Kent, England, to Sally and Colin Knox. He had a younger brother named Jamie. He was a student of Beths Grammar School.
Death & Aftermath
On 24 May 2008, Rob Knox was stabbed to death outside the Metro Bar in South East London when he intervened in a fight to protect his brother Jamie, who was being threatened by two men armed with knives. Knox was 18 at that time. Many ‘Harry Potter’ film cast members, including Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe and Alfred Enoch attended his funeral.
His attacker, Karl Norman Bishop, was taken into the custody and charged with the murder. His trial started in February 2009. Bishop was eventually found guilty of the murder in March and was given life imprisonment with a minimum twenty-year non-parole period. Police officials who were present in the court during the proceedings later reported that Bishop showed no remorse for the crime.
An annual film festival named the Rob Knox Film Festival was launched by the Rob Knox Foundation in the actor’s name to honor him.
