Michael Trucco is an American actor best known for his portrayal of Samuel T. Anders in the TV series ‘Battlestar Galactica’. The son of a police officer in San Mateo, California, he wanted to become a cop himself as a young boy. However, his interest shifted to acting in college. He performed well in his college theatrical productions and then moved to LA after his graduation to pursue a professional career. He made his debut in the television film ‘Eyes of Terror’ in 1994, followed by a role in an episode of the TV series ‘Hang Time’ (1995). His notable television credits include ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’, ‘Battlestar Galactica’ ‘Fairly Legal’ and ‘How I Met Your Mother’. As active in the film industry, the talented actor has appeared in films like ‘Hush’, ‘The Bye Bye Man’, and ‘Hunter Killer’. Besides being an actor, he is also the lead guitarist of the band ‘Simpleworld’. He was involved in a serious car accident a few years ago that threatened his career. Fortunately, he managed to make a full recovery and returned to acting.

Michael Trucco moved to Los Angeles after his graduation and began working in many theatrical productions, portraying minor roles. His performance in the Los Angeles - area production of Aaron Sorkin’s play ‘A Few Good Men’ attracted the attention of an agent who secured minor roles for him in several films and television series. In 1994, he made his debut with a small role in the television film ‘Eyes of Terror,’ followed by another minor appearance in an episode of the TV show ‘Hang Time’ in 1995. He became famous in the late 1990s owing to his appearances on the TV series ‘California Dreams’ (1996), ‘Silk Stalkings’ (1997), ‘Touched by an Angel’ (1997), ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ (1998), ‘Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman’ (1998), and ‘Pensacola: Wings of Gold’ (1998-2000).
In 2001, he appeared in the movie ‘A Girl, Three Guys, and a Gun’ and in TV shows like ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch’, ‘Arli$$’, and ‘That's Life’. In 2002, he starred in the film ‘Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled’. On television, he continued making appearances in series like ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ (2002), ‘Strong Medicine’ (2004), and ‘CSI: Miami’ (2005). He portrayed the role of Cooper Lee in six episodes of ‘One Tree Hill’ (2005-06) and played Samuel T. Anders in the drama ‘Battlestar Galactica’ in 2005. In 2008, he made guest appearances in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’. In 2009, he reprised the role of Samuel T. Anders in the movie ‘Battlestar Galactica: The Plan’. After making a guest appearance in ‘Castle’ (2010), he was cast in the regular role of Justin Patrick in the series ‘Fairly Legal’ between 2011 and 2012.
He played the recurring roles of Nick Podarutti in the television series ‘How I Met Your Mother’ (2011-12) and Nate Ryan in ‘Revenge’ (2012-13). He then appeared in movies like ‘Hush’ (2016), ‘The Bye Bye Man’ (2017) and ‘Hunter Killer’ (2018). In 2019, he made an appearance in the TV series ‘The Rookie’. In addition to being an actor, he is also the lead guitarist of the band ‘Simpleworld’. He will soon be seen in the film ‘Through the Glass Darkly.’

Michael Trucco was born on June 22, 1970, in San Mateo, California. His father was a police officer and following in his footsteps, Michael wanted to become a cop himself. He attended Junipero Serra High School where he played football and took part in wrestling. In college, his interest shifted towards theatrical performances. He got enrolled in Santa Clara University to study criminal justice and took a theatre course as well. He performed extremely well in the theatre course and was asked to consider changing majors, which he did. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts.
On December 2, 2007, he got involved in a car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California; his friend was driving the car, a Ferrari 360. The vehicle flipped upside-down, injuring him badly, fracturing four of his vertebrae. His friend escaped uninjured. He went through a major surgery at UCLA Medical Center. He survived despite his severe injuries, and by 10 December 2007, he had been discharged from the hospital and expected to make a full recovery.
On 11 July 2009, he married his long-time girlfriend, actress Sandra Hess, in Mexico. The couple has two cats and two dogs. Along with acting, he enjoys car racing and riding motorcycles and has participated in events like 2013 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.
