Matthew Daddario, popularly referred to as Matt Daddario in tinsel town, is a young and talented US actor whose claim to fame has been his portrayal of Alec Lightwood in the TV series ‘Shadowhunters’. It was pure coincidence that the movie in which Matthew debuted in 2012 was titled ‘Debut’ where he enacted the character of Peter Hamble. The following year, he got a major break to showcase his acting skills on the silver screen when was cast as Aaron in the romantic movie ‘Breathe In’ that released in 2013. The same year, Matthew played the characters of Sebastian and Channing in the movies ’36 Saints’ and ‘Delivery Man’ respectively. He started 2014 on a high note by enacting the part of Peter in the comedy film ‘Growing Up and Other Lies’. Daddario made his mark in the celluloid world of Hollywood by doing full justice to the role of Danny Ladouceur in the biopic ‘When the Game Stands Tall’ in the same year. The year 2015 turned out to be an eventful one for him as he was selected to depict the significant part of Gabriel in the romantic comedy picture, ‘Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List’. However, his being chosen to portray Alec Lightwood, the protagonist in the television series ‘Shadowhunters’ can be regarded as the turning point in his acting career so far.

Matthew Daddario was virtually a nonentity doing bit roles in run-of-the-mill movies before he landed the role of Aaron in the romantic drama movie ‘Breathe In’ 2013. In the Drake Doremus directed film, Matthew played the love interest of Lauren, the daughter of Keith Reynolds, the protagonist.
He was part of the supporting cast in ‘Delivery Man’ a comedy drama film where he enacted the persona of Channing. The movie, which opened for screening across cinemas in 2013, was modeled on the French-Canadian film, ‘Starbuck’ and had Vince Vaughn playing the lead.
The year 2014 saw Daddario acting as Danny Ladouceur, the son of coach Bob Ladouceur, the central character in ‘When the Game Stands Tall’ a sports movie. The film glorified the extraordinary coaching skills of Bob Ladouceur, head coach of De Salle High School of Concord, CA. Matthew was a supporting actor in the movie ‘Growing Up and Other Lies’ co-directed by Danny Jacobs and Darren Grodsky, playing the part of Peter. The plot of the film, released in 2014, revolved around the vain efforts of an artist trying to make his mark in New York City.
The next year too proved to be very momentous for Daddario as he was selected to play the leading role of Alec Lightwood in the TV series ‘Shadowhunters’ that was to be telecast on Freeform channel. The television series has been adapted from Cassandra Clare’s book series, ‘The Mortal Instruments’. The ‘Shadowhunters’ started airing in 2016, and presently the 2nd season of the TV series is under production.
In 2015, Matthew played Gabriel, a youthful and handsome janitor in the film ‘Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List’. In 2016, he starred as Jeff in the horror movie, ‘Cabin Fever’ which was based on a novel of the same name penned by Eli Roth and Randy Pearlstein. The film was actually a reconstructed version of the 2002 original movie directed by Eli Roth, one of the co-authors.

Matthew Daddario was born on 1st October 1987, in New York City, to Richard Daddario, an attorney by profession, and Christina, who was a lawyer. His father headed the NYPD Counterterrorism dept when Michael Bloomberg was the mayor of New York City. He spent his growing up years in NYC. He has two sisters.
Matthew went to Collegiate School, a K-12 school for boys situated in Manhattan, NYC and after finishing high school, attended Indiana University Bloomington from where earned his graduation degree in business in 2010.
His ancestors hailed from England, Italy, Ireland, and Czechoslovakia. Matthew has been in a relationship with Esther Kim, his girlfriend, since 2013.
