Career
Following his graduation, Marc started working at ‘Goldman Sachs’ as the emerging markets foreign exchange strategist. ‘Goldman Sachs’ is one of the most successful American multinational investment bank and financial services company. It also happens to be one of the largest investment banking enterprises in the world.
After working as a foreign exchange strategist, Marc went on to acquire a position at the global macro proprietary trading desk at ‘Goldman Sachs.’ Marc worked for the company for eight years. He then resigned from ‘Goldman Sachs’ after realizing that he would have better opportunities working for an equity firm.
In 2008, he joined a limited liability company named ‘3G Capital Management’ and served as its senior partner. ‘3G Capital’ was a relatively new firm, as it was started in 2004. The company became popular in 2010 after acquiring ‘Burger King’ for $3.3 billion. In the same year, Marc resigned from the company.
He was advised to start his own hedge fund and thus Marc laid the foundation of ‘Eaglevale Partners,’ a Manhattan-based company. ‘Eaglevale Partners,’ a multi-strategy investment fund, focused on commodities, currencies, and bonds.
Started by Marc and two other former ‘Goldman Sachs’ employees, ‘Eaglevale Partners’ went big within a couple years from starting its operations. Marc and his business partners made sure their company’s business grew at an impressive rate. They also capitalized on the financial crisis of Greece to further expand their business in the southeastern European country. The expansion of their business in Greece was achieved by starting a Greek-focused fund named ‘Eaglevale Hellenic Opportunity’ in 2014.
The investment looked appealing at the beginning but in the year 2016, ‘Eaglevale Hellenic’ was shut down as the company had lost 90 percent of its total value. In December 2016, the company ‘Eaglevale Partners’ was shut down permanently.
This was a major failure for Marc and his partners. Another major blow awaited them in the form of accusations that Marc had used his influence from the Clinton family to raise funds for his company.
The ‘WikiLeaks’ documents that were released in 2016 stated that Marc had invited Clinton’s rich friends to the ‘Clinton Foundation’ poker event to raise money for his own investment company. It was also said that Marc’s wife Chelsea had made calls to set up potential investors. These investors were also supporters of the political endeavors of Clinton and his family.
A prominent investor from Manhattan came forward to say that the general belief in Wall Street was that the Clinton family would support the investors who would invest in ‘Eaglevale Partners.’ Upon further investigation, it was revealed that most of the investors who had invested in ‘Eaglevale Partners’ were either family friends or acquaintances of Bill Clinton and his family.
When ‘Eaglevale Partners’ shut down in 2016, Marc took a job as the vice chairman of ‘Social Capital.’ Marc worked towards improving the portfolio of the company along with the overall business development of ‘Social Capital.’
Marc followed in the footsteps of his parents and became known for his association with several charity organizations. He currently serves on the board of ‘Pembroke College Foundation.’
He also serves on the board of ‘Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases.’ The organization works towards improving the future of medical science through collaborations with similar organizations. It also undertakes researches that are aimed at improving the quality of treatments. Marc is also among the board members of ‘Madison Square Park Conservancy.’
