Madison Vandenburg Biography

Madison Vandenburg was born on Decemner 9, 2002, in Latham, New York, USA, to Denine and Skip VanDenburg. She grew up in Cohoes, New York where she attended ‘Boght Hills Elementary School.’ When she expressed interest in music at a young age, her parents enrolled her to music classes where she learned to play piano and guitar.

She was later enrolled at ‘Shaker Junior High School’ in Latham where she started showcasing her singing skills.

During her middle school years, Vandenburg performed consistently at her father’s restaurant in New York. While studying in sixth grade, she played a major role as a singer in a school musical titled ‘Annie.’ While studying in seventh grade, she served as a flutist for a musical band in her school. In 2017, she won a singing competition called ‘CASA Proctors Talent Show’ which was organized to raise money to help abused children. In 2018, Vandenburg released her debut song, ‘Need a Little Heartbreak.’

In late-2018, Vandenburg auditioned to compete in the seventeenth season of ‘American Idol.’ She was selected to be a part of the show when she impressed the judges during her auditions. She became one of the 20 surviving contestants after performing well in front of a studio audience at a beachside resort hotel in Ko Olina, Hawaii. She then performed a song titled ‘Domino’ at ‘Wiltern Theatre’ in Los Angeles, California. In an episode aired on April 7, 2019, Vandenburg performed ‘We Belong’ alongside professional singers, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo. After becoming one of the top 14 contestants, she performed songs, such as Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin’ and Lady Gaga’s ‘You and I.’ Madison Vandenburg continued to impress the judges and fans alike. As part of the top 10 contestants, she performed ‘How Far I'll Go’ from Disney's musical adventure film ‘Moana.’ She became one of the top five contestants after performing ‘Piece Of My Heart’ and ‘I Surrender.’ She then went all the way to the finale along with fellow contestants, Alejandro Aranda and Laine Hardy.

Madison Vandenburg became a household name in the United States after appearing in ‘American Idol.’ She also became popular on social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter. Her YouTube channel, which she had created on October 12, 2015, has thousands of views and subscribers. Vandenburg started dating Steven Mallory in May 2016. Unlike his girlfriend, Mallory likes to maintain a low profile.

Madison Vandenburg has two younger siblings – Chloe and Clayton. She is close to her father Skip Vandenberg who owns a restaurant in Latham, New York. Apart from taking care of his business, he also serves as Madison Vandenburg’s manager. Vandenburg is also close to her mother Denine O’Conner who is very supportive of her singing career.
