Jazz Ishmael Butler, professionally known as Lil Tracy, is an American rapper and singer-songwriter. He is known for his singles "This Year" and "Checkmate” as well as for his collaborations with the late rapper Lil Peep on tracks, such as "White Wine” and "Awful Things", the latter of which peaked at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100. A prominent personality in the "SoundCloud rap” scene today, Lil Tracy had decided to pursue a career in music as a young boy. He was born to musicians Cheryl Clemons and Ishmael Butler. His parents split when he was young and he had to face a lot of struggles as a youth. He was homeless as a teenager and moved to California from Virginia when he was 18. Lil Tracy began publishing his music online when he was just 15 years old. He ultimately grew his audience through SoundCloud and then went on become a promising rapper with an impressive fan following. Currently, he continues to make music and entertain his fans with his vocal and songwriting skills. On a personal note, the artiste has emerged as a better version of himself over the years.

Career
Jazz Ishmael Butler began to make music when he was just 15. He originally started his career under the name "Yung Bruh", and released numerous mixtapes and EPs under the Thraxxhouse collective. Some of his initial projects include ‘Depression,’ ‘Tracy World EP,’ ‘Cascadia Vibes,’ ‘Heavens Witch,’ ‘Indigo Soul Mixtape’ and ‘Asaku's Forest,’ to name a few.
Butler, along with some other members of Thraxxhouse, formed their own group Gothboiclique and started composing songs, releasing them on Tumblr and SoundCloud. Through the group, he met fellow rapper Lil Peep and the duo instantly collaborated on the track “White Tee” which gathered much attention in the underground hip hop scene. Around this time, Butler changed his rap name from Yung Bruh to Lil Tracy and released the track "Overdose." This too, became a hit.
Lil Tracy and Lil Peep went on to release some definitive songs together, putting out a string of tracks alongside their collaborative mixtapes, ‘Castles’ (2016) and ‘Castles II’ (2017). Lil Tracy released his long-awaited mixtape, ‘Tracy’s Manga,’ on 1 February 2017. Soon after, he released the mixtapes ‘XOXO’ and ‘Life of a Popstar,’ as well as the EPs, ‘Hollywood High’ (with Mackned) and ‘Fly Away’ (with Lil Raven). Lil Tracy and Lil Peep put out their single “Awful Things” in August 2017; it peaked at # 79 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Although Lil Tracy has released a number of songs till date, he is best known for his tracks "Checkmate”, "This Year", “Awful Things," "Cobain", "White Tee” and "White Wine”. Recently, the American artiste released his EPs, ‘Designer Talk’ and ‘Sinner.’

Lil Tracy was born on October 3, 1995 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA, to Ishmael Butler of the musical duo, Shabazz Palaces, and Cheryl Clemons, better known as "Coko" from SWV. His parents separated when Tracy was young and he would bounce between two homes while growing up. He went to Garfield High School. He was homeless for a while as a teenager.
Lil Tracy is a private person and the details of his love life are not known. Lil Tracy once collaborated with Trippie Redd on the single "Limitless”. He suffered a tragedy when his friend and collaborator Lil Peep died from an overdose of fentanyl and Xanax.
