Born in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, Lee began his career as a model while he was a teenager. After he achieved success and appreciation as a model, he decided to try his luck in acting. His first professional role was in the TV series 'Prosecutor Princess', where he played a supporting role. The show was an average success. He came to popularity following his role in 'School 2013', a South Korean TV series which focused on problems such as bullying and school violence, faced by most Korean youths. The show was a success and won multiple awards. For his performance, Lee received the 'KBS Drama Award' for Best Actor, his first acting award. Childhood & Early Life
Lee Jong-suk was born on 14th September 1989, in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, to mother Lui and father Kim Jong- suk. His father had an accident when Lee was just three, and never fully recovered from his injuries. This caused a lot of trauma to the little boy. He didn’t communicate with people much, and used to be an introvert till he graduated from high school.

Career
In 2005, Lee Jong-suk began his modeling career at the age of 15. He became the youngest male model to debut at the Seoul Collection walkway at Seoul Collection program for Seoul Fashion Week. He has walked in several fashion shows since then. He made his acting debut after a few years in the South Korean TV series 'Prosecutor Princess' which aired in 2010.
The same year, Lee also made his movie debut in 'Ghost' a horror movie. He came to popularity after playing the role of a musical genius in the 2010 South Korean television drama 'Secret Garden'. The show was a huge hit.
He gained further popularity after portraying a role in the TV series 'School 2013', which aired in 2012. Lee's role was appreciated and it won him his first acting award.

‘Pinocchio’ a South Korean TV series that aired from 2014 can be regarded as one of the most important works in Lee Jong-suk’s acting career. The show, which starred Lee in the lead role, was directed by Jo Soo-won and Shin Seung-woo. The series was a success, and was broadcast in several countries such as China, Japan, US, and Israel. The show won numerous awards as well.
Another one of Lee’s most recent and significant works is the 2017 South Korean thriller film ‘VIP’. The movie was directed by Park Hoon-jung. It revolves around a youth who is suspected of committing murders all around the world, and is therefore pursued by the Interpol. The movie earned criticism for its extreme violence, especially against women.

Lee Jong-suk has received numerous awards throughout his career. He won the ‘SBS Drama Award’ and ‘Style Icon Award’ for his role in ‘I Can Hear Your Voice’ in 2013.
Other awards won by him include the ‘Korean Drama Award’ for his role in ‘Pinocchio’ in 2014 and ‘MBC Drama Award--Grand Prize (Daesang)’ for his role in ‘W’ in 2016.
Personal Life
Lee Jong-suk was rumored to be dating Park Shin Hye, a popular South Korean actress and singer. However, they denied the rumours and said that they were only friends.
