Rise to Stardom

Before Lauren Bullen found fame on Instagram, she was working as a Dental Assistant. Lauren was the first of the two sisters to join the image-sharing platform in 2013. After she went on a trip to the United States and Canada, she became interested in photography and subsequently taught herself advanced photography and editing skills. Her initial aim was to have "an authentically pleasing Instagram account and fun travel pics." However, she also nurtured the dream of getting paid for her images.

The opportunity finally came when she was contacted by Student Flights in Australia, which sponsored her first paid trip abroad to Europe in partnership with Busabout and Sail Croatia. Following this, she began getting regular contracts for paid influencer trips, allowing her to network with photographers and other influencers bigger than her and gain first-hand experience from them. By December 2015, she was making enough money to be able to quit her job so that she could invest more time for travel trips. She is currently recognized as one of the unique travel bloggers on Instagram and boasts of 2.1 million followers.

Couple Travel Blogger

In March 2016, Lauren Bullen met travel blogger Jack Morris while on a trip with the Fiji tourism board. Morris himself is very popular on Instagram with 2.7 million followers on his handle @doyoutravel and also has the blogging site doyoutravelphoto.com. When they first met, they bonded over their similar style of images and were inseparable throughout the whole trip. Their fondness for each other eventually grew into a strong relationship. On the last night of their trip in Fiji, Morris asked her to come with him to Bali, which she gladly accepted. Since then, the two have been travelling together extensively, and have already shared incredible photos from over 45 countries around the world.

They take each other's pictures themselves and use a tripod with a timer for their pictures together. Talking to Forbes.com, Bullen said that photographer couples traveling the world was quite unique at the time, which contributed to their content earning viral fame. In fact, within 9 months of meeting each other, Bullen and Morris earned 700k and 1.5 million more followers to their respective Instagram profiles. Soon after they celebrated their 1st anniversary under a turquoise waterfall in Bali in March 2017, 'The Daily Mail' reported that the couple was earning a six-figure salary with up to $9,000 USD and $7,500 USD per sponsored Instagram post, respectively for Morris and Bullen. Morris told the outlet that they don't do a sponsored post for less than $3,000 USD. The news outlet revealed in February 2019 that the pair had been signed up by Brand USA for its ‘United Stories’ tourism campaign, which also included actress Alyssa Lynch and other Instagram stars.

Controversies & Scandals

On November 11, 2016, Lauren Bullen made a blog post titled 'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery', in which she compared various identical shots in identical outfits by another Instagram star named @diana_alexa who, according to her, was following her around the world to copy her work. The profile was set to private, and Lauren later updated the post saying they had reconciled. However, when stuff.co.nz wanted to contact Alexa, Lauren refused to provide her contact details, and the outlet was unable to find any trace of the person on the internet. The outlet published an article later that month claiming that the whole fiasco was a publicity stunt orchestrated by Lauren herself.
