Lindsay Mills is a professional dancer and an acrobat. Till 2013, she was working with Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe in Honolulu, Hawaii. In an LA times report the coach of the troupe, Karl Vorwerk, described Mills as “a beginner at acrobatics”. In 2012, she was a part of ‘History of Pole’ performed at Honolulu Fringe Festival.

In June 2013, Lindsay’s boyfriend Edward Snowden revealed, to journalists Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras, and Ewen MacAskill, highly classified information pertaining to National Security Agency (NSA). The documents revealed by Snowden disclosed the details of various surveillance programs run by the NSA. Upon revelation, there was huge uproar regarding the government’s tactics of invading the privacy of common people. Snowden made these revelations in Hong-Kong. In the aftermath, Mills unwittingly became center of attraction for media as well as commoners. Mills, her father, and Snowden himself have reiterated that Lindsay knew nothing about Edward’s intentions or the secret documents.

Although there are charges against Snowden and his passport has been revoked, Lindsay Mills is not under any surveillance by the government agencies and there are no restrictions on her traveling out of the country.

In the aftermath of Snowden’s revelations Mills stoically dealt with the unwanted attention she had garnered. She took to social media to express her anguish. She temporarily shut down her blog.
