The first job of her professional career was as a project manager at Merrill Lynch. She worked there from June to August 2007. In the following year, she was employed as a research assistant for political analyst Douglas Schoen. During her final year of PhD, she served as a communications-and-digital strategist on Boris Johnson’s re-election campaign for Mayor of London from January to May 2012. She then returned to the US and started working once more under Schoen, who would become her mentor in the ensuing years. She was with him until 2017, often making appearances on Fox News as a liberal commentator and serving as Schoen’s political strategist.

Jessica Tarlov debuted as a political pundit in a 2014 episode of former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee’s self-titled show. In February 2015, she appeared as a guest panellist in an episode of the business analysis program ‘Cashin' In’. That year, she also made her inaugural appearances on ‘The O'Reilly Factor’, ‘Red Eye with Tom Shillue’, ‘Cavuto on Business’, and ‘The Greg Gutfeld Show’. In the upcoming 2020 presidential election, Jessica Tarlov has come out in support of former Vice President Joe Biden.

Since January 2017, Tarlov has been serving as the senior director of research and consumer insight at Bustle Digital Group. In 2018, Tarlov published ‘America in the Age of Trump: A Bipartisan Guide’, a book that she co-authored with Schoen.

Jessica Tarlov was born on March 9, 1984, in Manhattan, New York, USA, to Mark Tarlov and Judith Roberts. Her father is a filmmaker and her younger sister, Molly Tarlov, is an actress.

After graduating from high school, Jessica Tarlov enrolled at Bryn Mawr College, a liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, in 2002. She obtained her B.A. degree in history in 2006 and went to London, England to study at The London School of Economics and Political Science. She earned her M.S. degree in public policy and administration in 2007 and Master of Research degree in political science in 2008. For the following four years, she pursued a PhD in political science and government, eventually obtaining it in 2012.
