Jeremy Davies is an American actor best known for portraying the role of the Norse God Baldur in the video game ‘God of War’ and Cpl. Timothy E. Upham in the series ‘Saving Private Ryan’. The extremely talented dark-haired actor has made a name for himself playing a series of damaged and offbeat characters. He moved around a lot during his childhood and has lived in New Orleans, Alaska, Michigan, Idaho, Hawaii, Wyoming, California, and South America. After his parents divorced, he stayed with his mother until her death. After that, he moved to live with his father and stepmother. He was raised without television, never made friends easily, and lived a vividly nomadic childhood. After completing his high school, he joined American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California where he began his acting career. He made his onscreen debut with the TV series ‘Dream On’ in 1991. The following year, he made his film debut in the movie ‘Guncrazy’. It was only after he appeared in the movie ‘Spanking the Monkey’ that he gained widespread recognition and respect. On the personal front, he has dated Australian actress Emilie de Ravin and actress Milla Jovovich.

Jeremy Davies started his acting career in the 1991 TV series ‘Dream On’ as a mugger. The same year, he portrayed the role of Roger in ‘General Hospital’ before making his film debut in the movie ‘Guncrazy’ in 1992. He appeared in two episodes of ‘The Wonder Years’ and in the colonial-era sitcom ‘1775’ in 1992. After making a guest appearance in ‘Melrose Place’ in 1992, he was cast in a TV commercial for Subaru. The commercial was noticed by many casting directors, and he was approached by them with several feature film scripts. His role of Ray Aibelli in the 1994 black comedy ‘Spanking the Monkey’ earned him an ‘Independent Spirit Award’ nomination for Best Debut Performance. The same year, he bagged a role in the Jodie Foster movie ‘Nell.’
In 1997, he appeared as Flyboy in the movie ‘The Locusts’ and as Williard "Sonny" Burns in ‘Going All the Way’. In 1998, he got the pivotal role of Corporal Upham in Steven Spielberg's film ‘Saving Private Ryan’. His performance got wide recognition, and in the ensuing years he got roles in several popular movies like ‘CQ’ (2001) ‘Secretary’ (2002) and ‘Solaris’ (2002).
After making an appearance in the TV film ‘Helter Skelter’ (2004), he appeared in the movie ‘Manderlay’ (2005), and starred in ‘Rescue Dawn’ (2006). He portrayed the role of Daniel Faraday in the series ‘Lost’ (2008-10). He played a recurring role in FX's ‘Justified’ (2011-15), for which he won the ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
In 2014, he made appearances in two episodes of the series ‘Hannibal’ before starring in History Channel's miniseries ‘Texas Rising’ in 2015. In 2017, he played one version of Jesus Christ in the TV drama series ‘American Gods’. The same year, he provided his voice to Ritchie Simpson in the animated film ‘Justice League Dark’. In 2018, he provided his voice to the character of Baldur in a video game titled ‘God of War’.

Jeremy Davies was born on October 8, 1969, in Traverse City, Michigan to children's author Melvin Lyle "Mel" Boring as “Jeremy Boring.” “Davies” was his mother’s maiden name which he began using as his last name in his professional career. He is of Scottish-Welsh descent. He has an older brother named Joshua and two younger half-siblings named Zachery and Katrina.
He had a nomadic childhood and was raised without television. As a young boy, he had lived in numerous places throughout the world, including Vermont, Seattle, Oregon, Kansas, Michigan, New Orleans, Latin America, Canada, Denmark, and Sweden.
He could not make friends easily due to the fear of separation as he was continuously moving and began to develop ulcers. After his parents’ divorce, he relocated with his mother to Kansas and lived with her until she died of lupus in the mid-1970s.
He then moved to live with his father and stepmother in Santa Barbara, California. Later, they moved to Rockford, Iowa in 1986, where he completed high school. He then joined American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California where his roommate was actor Jeffrey Asch.
Davies is currently single even though he has been involved in a few romantic relationships in the past. He previously dated Emilie de Ravin in 2010. The couple was dating secretly and a close source confirmed their relationship in the media. However, they never got married and Ravin got engaged to director Eric Bilitch in 2016. He was also once rumored of having a relationship with Milla Jovovich who later married Paul W.S Anderson.
