Indraneil Sengupta is an Indian television and film actor. He was also a model and won the ITA award for ‘Idea Glamour Face of the Year Male’ in 2008. In fact, he was also a ruuner-up in the Gladrags Manhunt Contest in 1999, which was won by John Abraham, the popular Bollywood actor. He has a social media presence predominantly on Instagram and Facebook and is quite active in both of them. He has acted in more than 35 movies to date with a couple of them in the Bangladesh film industry. His last film was ‘Mulk’ in 2018.
Indraneil Sengupta started his career as a model and acted in various popular commercials before he became an actor. He modeled for the popular designer Rohit Bal. He has also worked for famous choreographers such as Achala Sachdev and Marc Robinson. VIP Frenchie, Aquafina, Tata Indigo Marina Car are some of the popular advertisements in which he featured as a model.
After his stint as a model, Indraneil Sengupta slowly transitioned to acting in music videos. Out of them, some of the popular ones are in songs sung by Falguni Pathak, Jagjit Singh, KJ Yesudas, and Asha Bhosle. He also had a prominent role in Pyaar Ke Do Naam…Ek Radha Ek Shyaam’, a popular television show that was aired on Star Plus. He also portrayed the role of ‘Tushaar’ in the television serial ‘Banoo Main Teri Dulhan’ that was aired on Zee TV. He was also seen in the reality television show ‘Nach Baliye 3’ with his wife as a late entrant.
His career in films started with ‘Shukriya: Till Death Do Us Apart’. The movie also had Aftab Shivdasani, Shriya Saran, and Anupam Kher. The movie was released in 2004. His next popular role was in the horror movie ‘1920’. In this movie, he played a negative role of ‘Mohan Kanta’ a British Indian Army man who goes on to betray a pro-independence military regiment. This film was written directed by the popular director Vikram Bhatt. After a successful start, he starred in another two popular Hindi movies ‘Mumbai Salsa’ and ‘Kahaani’.
Indraneil Sengupta also found profound success in the Bengali movie industry. His first Bengali movie was released in 2008 which was titled ‘Janala’. The movie was directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta and starred Swastika Mukherjee. At the beginning of the next year, he starred in ‘Angshumaner Chhobi’ opposite Indrani Haldar. This movie was directed by debutant director Atanu Ghosh and the film was the one and only entry into the competitive section of the Indian Panorama in Goa.
In late 2009, a very challenging role as a bisexual lover was essayed by him in ‘Arekti Premer Golpo’ which was directed by Kaushik Ganguly. His lover in the movie was the celebrated director Rituparno Ghosh. This movie was, in fact, the first movie as an actor for Rituparno. The next year, he starred in his first commercial Bengali movie ‘Jodi Ekdin’.
He also acted in the Bengali movie ‘Autograph’ which was a tribute movie to Satyajit Ray and Uttam Kumar and the movie had Prasenjit Chatterjee and Nandana Sen along with Indraneil. Some of his other popular Bengali movies are ‘Aparajita Tumi’ in 2012, ‘Goyenda Gogol’ in 2013 and ‘Teen Patti’. He also played a role in ‘Chorabali’, a Bangladeshi movie.

Family & Personal Life
Indraneil Sengupta was born on 8 September 1974 at Ahmedabad. In order to pursue a career in modeling he moved to Mumbai. On 1 March 2008, he got married to Barkha Bisht who co-starred with him in two serials ‘Doli Saja Ke’ and ‘Pyaar ke do naam…Ek Radha Ek Shyaam’. The couple has a daughter named Meira who was born in October 2011.
