Rise to Fame
Having been active as an entertainer since he was quite young, Gabriel Morales has built up an impressive résumé by acting, singing, and performing all over the world. He had his start as an actor, after he sent an audition tape to the producers of the Univision variety show ‘Sabado Gigante’. Not long after this, he enrolled at the well-known The Music, Dancer & Acting Academy (MDA), which is owned and run by Maiten Montenegro, a veteran Chilean actress, producer, and choreographer.
In 2005, he took part in Televisa Network’s ‘Código F.A.M.A. Internacional’, representing the US. The reality show was filmed in Mexico and 18 aspirants from that many Latin American countries alongside one aspirant from Spain besides Morales. The contestants battled it out for the Code Diamond prize: a recording/acting contract, a music tour of all the twenty participating countries, and various scholarships. Elizabeth María Suárez Rosario of the Dominican Republic was the eventual winner, and Morales finished the competition as one of the semi-finalists.
From 2003 to 2007, he was affiliated with the Miami Heat Junior Dance Team. In 2005, Gabriel Morales made his acting debut in the pilot episode of Telemundo Network’s Spanish-language telenovela ‘El Cuerpo del Deseo’, portraying a character named Tommy. He subsequently guest-starred in a series of TV shows, including ‘El Amor No Tiene Precio’ (2005), ‘Olvidarte Jamás’ (2006), ‘Don Francisco presenta’ (2006), ‘La Viuda de Blanco’ (2006), ‘Decisiones’ (2007), ‘Dance on Sunset’ (2008), ‘Escándalo TV de noche’ (2008), and ‘El Cartel de los Sapos’ (2008) before debuting on the big screen in ‘Wake’ in 2009.
William Dear’s directorial venture, the 2009 sports docudrama ‘The Perfect Game’ was the breakthrough project of Morales’ career. He essayed the role of Ricardo Treviño, one of the members of Industriales de Monterrey, the first non-US team to win the Little League World Series in 1957.
In 2010, he appeared in his first telefilm, ‘It Takes a Village’. A year later, he was cast as Chavo in three episodes of ABC’s massively successful telenovela ‘All My Children’. That year, he also made a cameo appearance in another ABC show, ‘Desperate Housewives’. Morales shared screen space with Ethan Embry, Michael Gladis, and Clea DuVall in the action comedy ‘Armed Response’ in 2013 and co-starred with Ice-T, Caryn Ward, and La'Myia Good in the action drama ‘Crossed the Line’ in 2014.
In February 2011, Gabriel Morales released his first single, ‘Let It Go’ on iTunes. Following a nation-wide search, ‘American Idol’ creator Simon Fuller, media icon Perez Hilton, and renowned tour director Jamie King formed the boy group IM5 with Morales, Cole Pendery, Dana Vaughns, Will Jay, and David Scarzone, in 2012. Gabriel Morales and his bandmates wrote their own songs and amalgamated R&B-driven pop melodies and authentic vocal harmonies to create a unique sound for themselves. They performed full-blown dance routines in their music videos and live shows. In July 2012, they put out their first single, ‘Everything About U’. In the ensuing four years, they also released tracks like ‘Heartless’ and ‘Get to Know You’. IM5 broke up in February 2016. In 2017, Morales released his solo single, ‘Quiero Mas’.
