Peter Czerwinski, better known as “Furious Pete,” is a professional competitive eater, “YouTuber,” and bodybuilder from Canada. In his teens, Peter suffered from anorexia and was also hospitalized to be treated for the same. Soon, he began using bodybuilding as a coping mechanism. With time, he discovered his ability to eat and digest food was faster than an average person. He wished to test his eating limits and started participating in various eating competitions. His ability proved to be a talent when he started posting about these competitions on his ‘YouTube’ channel. Currently, he has more than four million subscribers on his channel. He also holds 14 ‘Guinness World Records’ in competitive eating. His eating exploits include finishing a 72-ounce steak within a few minutes, a whole raw onion in 43.53 seconds, 15 hamburgers in 10 minutes, and 17 Jaffa cakes in 60 seconds. He also participated in ‘Canada’s Got Talent’ but could not go too far. The documentary named ‘The Story of Furious Pete’ is based on his incredible eating ability. He was diagnosed with cancer twice.

Peter was born on November 30, 1985, in Toronto, Canada, to not-so-healthy parents. His father was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, while his mother suffered from multiple sclerosis.
As a teenager, Peter was a very shy person. He was told that he, too, had the possibility of developing cancer. Instead, Peter soon developed anorexia, as a result of the anxiety of taking care of his health.
In 2002, he weighed 120 pounds and was hospitalized at ‘The Hospital for Sick Children.’ This made him resort to bodybuilding to gain back his health.
Peter attended ‘McMaster University’ before building a career in professional eating.

Career
After recovering from anorexia, he fell in love with food again. Soon, he discovered his ability to eat and digest a lot of food very quickly and easily. This drove him to test his limits. During a “night out” with his friends in the UK, Peter doubled the previous eating record of the restaurant.
With time, he became famous with his superhuman ability to gulp down huge amounts of food within seconds. He received an overwhelming online response and decided to open his own ‘YouTube’ channel.
After acing a steak-eating challenge, in which he ate a 72-ounce steak within seven minutes, he became a social-media celebrity. The video of the challenge became viral, and he was soon invited to compete in various eating challenges.
One of the first few invites came from the ‘Collegiate Nationals,’ to compete in a college competitive eating tournament, in 2008. Peter gladly accepted the invite and won the show.
He has competed in more than 90 eating competitions since then and has earned more than four million ‘YouTube’ subscribers. He also holds 14 ‘Guinness Book Records’ for winning various eating competitions.
Some of his eating records include drinking three liters of lemon juice in less than four minutes and 650 millilitres of olive oil in one minute and 36.39 seconds. He also ate 50 hard-boiled eggs in 11 minutes, 17 Jaffa cakes in 60 seconds, and 15 hamburgers in 10 minutes.
He is also known for eating 17 bananas in two minutes, a 12-inch pizza in 34.34 seconds, Three 14-inch pancakes in nine minutes and 56.04 seconds, and 30 ‘Reese’s peanut-butter cups in two minutes and 57.36 seconds. His other accomplishments include eating nine ‘Ferrero Rocher’ chocolates in one minute, 750 grams of ‘Nutella’ in two minutes and 31.67 seconds, a raw onion in 43.53 seconds, and 900 grams of protein powder in three minutes.
With time, he started traveling abroad to participate in international eating challenges. He was also approached by a German TV network to present their new extreme-eating show.
He also started his own series, ‘Furious World Tour,’ which made him travel around the world to compete in food challenges. He is also known for participating in shows such as ‘Rude(Ish) Tube’ (2013), ‘Natural Born Pranksters’ (2016), and ‘Ultimate Expedition’ (2018).
Peter also participated in the first season of ‘Canada’s Got Talent,’ where he ate five hard-boiled eggs, three pieces of Canadian bacon, two bananas, and a bag of milk, in 51 seconds. However, he was eliminated in the ‘Toronto Auditions.’
Awards & Achievements
‘The Story of Furious Pete,’ a direct-to-DVD documentary based on Peter Czerwinski’s life, was screened at the ‘Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.’
A burger named after him consists of 20 pieces of bacon, 20 pieces of cheese, and a five-pound platter of fries. The restaurant that served the burger had held an eating competition, and Peter was the first person to finish the challenge, after more than a thousand people failed to complete it. Peter claimed the challenge was the toughest he had ever faced.
Personal Life
Peter is set to marry his fiancée, Melissa Cvjeticanin, whom he had competed against in a burrito-challenge video in 2015. Peter is also a two-time cancer survivor.
On February 16, 2017, Peter stated through a ‘YouTube’ video that he was fighting cancer for the third time.
