Career
Emily Stofle started off her acting career by portraying one of the victims of the infamous real-life serial killer Ted Bundy in the 2002 biographical crime drama ‘Bundy’. The film also starred Michael Reilly Burke, Boti Bliss, and Julianna McCarthy.
She first collaborated with her future husband in his mystery drama ‘Inland Empire’, released in 2006. The cast also included many of Lynch regulars, including Jeremy Irons, Karolina Gruszka, Peter J. Lucas, Krzysztof Majchrzak, and Julia Ormond. In 2007, she starred alongside Lynch in his digital short film ‘Boat’. Lynch portrayed himself as a man riding a boat on a lake at night while Stofle provides a dreamy, confused narration.
She worked with Marion Cotillard, Gong Tao, Cheng Hong, Lu Yong, and Nie Fei in Lynch’s 16-minute short film titled ‘Lady Blue Shanghai’ for the European luxury company Dior. Thematically similar to ‘Inland Empire’, the film revolves around Cotillard's character as she comes across a mysterious Dior handbag. In 2014, Stofle appeared in Gary T. McDonald’s romantic drama ‘The Fourth Noble Truth’ in a rare collaboration with another filmmaker besides Lynch.
In 2017, she played a role in ‘Twin Peaks.’ Created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, the mystery horror drama series originally aired on ABC between April 1990 and June 1991. While it was one of the most popular shows on television in its debut season, the rating drastically declined in season two. The show was eventually cancelled and a full-length feature film, titled ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’, that serves as a prequel to the series, was released in 1992. Since then, the show has developed a cult status and is remembered as one of the finest examples in both mystery and horror genres. Eventually, after 25 years of hiatus, Frost and Lynch returned to create a limited series for Showtime, which would be a continuation of the story. ‘Twin Peaks’ or Twin Peaks: The Return’ premiered on Showtime on May 21, 2017, and aired 18 episodes before concluding on 3 September. Stofle was cast as Sophie in Part 14, which aired on 13 August. One of the patrons of Roadhouse bar, she is seen to have a conversation with fellow Twin Peaks resident Megan (Shane Lynch).
