Efren Ramirez is an American actor and DJ, best recognized for playing Pedro Sánchez in the 2004 comedy film ‘Napoleon Dynamite’. He has also played guest roles in a number of television programs including ‘Dangerous Minds’, ‘Judging Amy’, ‘ER’, ‘Constantine’, ‘American Dad’, 'MADtv' and 'Scrubs', to name a few. As a DJ, Ramirez has toured more than 50 cities across multiple continents and continues to entertain people with his uncanny ability to produce unique sets including a variety of music, from disco and funk to hard house and hip hop. He is also a great speaker and frequently gives lectures in schools and universities. Born in California to Salvadoran and Mexican parents, Ramirez grew up alongside his four brothers. In 1998, he married Mexican American actress Iyari Limon. Their marriage was, however, annulled later on. An incredibly benevolent person behind the curtains, the talented actor is very much involved with many charitable organizations.

Career
Efren Ramirez made his film debut with a small role in the 1994 sci-fi comedy ‘Tammy and the T-Rex’. Two years later, he did the movie ‘Kazaam’ and also made a guest appearance in an episode of the series ‘Relativity’. Following a guest role in the series ‘Dangerous Minds’, he played Miguel Álvarez in the feature film ‘Melting Pot’. The actor next had a cameo in the movie ‘King Cobra’ as a teen boy, who, along with his girlfriend, falls prey to the “King Cobra” while playing hide-and-seek.
He started the next decade with guest roles in various TV programs including ‘Boston Public’, ‘Even Stevens’, ‘Judging Amy’ and ‘ER’. In 2004, Ramirez starred as Pedro Sánchez in Jared Hess’ comedy ‘Napoleon Dynamite’. The film was a massive success and eventually grossed $46.1 million on a budget of $400,000. Two years later, he appeared in ‘Crank’ alongside Jose Pablo Cantillo, Amy Smart and Jason Statham. The film centers on a hitman, who, after being poisoned by someone, must keep his adrenaline flowing so as to stay alive. To ensure this, he engages in fights and takes drugs while trying to track the person who poisoned him. Ramirez later reprised his role in the film’s 2009 sequel titled ‘Crank: High Voltage’. Also, in 2009, he featured in the comedy film ‘American Summer’ alongside Matthew Lillard, Rachelle Lefèvre, Brett Davern and Tom Arnold.
In 2010, he joined the cast of the sports comedy series ‘Eastbound & Down’ as Catuey. After this, the actor lent his voice to Pedro Sánchez in the animated sitcom ‘Napoleon Dynamite’. In 2015, he played Mr. Alvarado in the biographical drama film ‘Endgame’. Following a voice role in ‘Bordertown’, Ramirez starred in ‘Mad Families’, a story of three families who compete for a camping spot during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Ramírez is also a well-known DJ who has performed worldwide. His production agency "Nocturnal Rampage" organizes a rave event every summer in Austin. He is also a co-founder of Powerhouse Pictures Entertainment, LLC. Ramirez has also co-authored a book titled ‘Direct Your Own Life: How To Be A Star in Any Field You Choose’.
