David Evans Shaw
David Evans Shaw is an American businessman famous as managing partner of investment firm ‘Black Point Group.’ Shaw was the founding Chairman and CEO of IDEXX Laboratories Inc; founding CEO and Executive Chair of Ikaria Pharma; and co-founder and chairman of Direct Vet Marketing. His entrepreneurial endeavours also include contributing as investor and director in several companies, including Sapphire Energy, Itaconix and Physion. He was also a partner of venture capital firm Venrock Associates. A short-form filmmaker, Shaw is associated with ‘Curiosity Stream’ as Advisory Board member. He also devotes time in public service, management consulting and teaching, and frequently speaks on business leadership, entrepreneurship, and public service on various public forums. He participated in senior executive program at the ‘Harvard Business School’ and served in the advisory board of the ‘Center for Public Leadership.’ He was inducted into Life Sciences Hall of Fame, named the “2013 International SeaKeepers of the Year,” and awarded the honorary Doctor of Law degree by Colby College, Bates College, and The University of Southern Maine.

Since then, Shaw has founded, co-founded, and invested in several organisations, including some of Maine’s largest companies.He was the founding Chairman and CEO of the American multinational corporation IDEXX Laboratories Inc., which was incorporated in 1983. He was associated with the public policy and public administration school of Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government as a visiting lecturer. He was in the advisory board of the school’s academic research center, ‘Center for Public Leadership,’ and served in the selection committee of ‘America's Best Leaders.’ In 1986, he was associated involved with senior executive program at the ‘Harvard Business School.’He was Chair of the independent, non-profit biomedical research institution, Jackson Laboratory; and a trustee of the teaching hospital, Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Maine. He was a member of the Science advisory board to ‘Discovery Communications,’ ‘Young Presidents' Organization,’ the leadership council for Service Nation, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Executive Committee of the US-Israel Science and Technology Commission.He is the founding chair of ‘Sargasso Sea Alliance’ (ocean conservation). In 2013, he was recognised as international sea-keeper of the year along with other Sargasso Sea Alliance board members.
