Dana Vaughns is a budding pop singer, dancer, and a social media influencer, who, by virtue of his painstakingly nurtured credibility in the web-based entertainment platforms, has amassed a huge fan following. He was first thrust into the national limelight when he portrayed a cameo in the track, ‘Hoedown, Throwdown’ for the movie, ‘Hannah Montana’ as a ten-year-old. Dana displayed an early affinity for the performing arts and honed his raw skills in dancing and singing by taking lessons right from his childhood. He was still not in his teens when his family took the momentous decision of relocating to the entertainment industry capital of the US—Los Angeles—so that he got optimum opportunities for excelling in his chosen vocations. Dana Vaughns, a promising pop singer, dancer, and social media sensation originally hails from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He developed and demonstrated an intense penchant for singing and dancing when he was still a kid.
He started attending singing and dancing classes in order to nurture and whet his innate talent. He performed in numerous dramas and plays as well participated in singing/dancing competitions while in school. He also featured in a series of TV commercials as a youngster.
He achieved fame early on when he bagged a bit part in ‘Hanna Montana: The Movie’, a 2009 teen musical drama-comedy flick starring the popular singer, actress, and songwriter Miley Cyrus in the lead. He appeared fleetingly in the song, ‘Hoedown Throwdown’ composed and recorded for the movie.
Dana shifted to Los Angeles to make his mark in the entertainment industry and excel as a singer and dancer. Towards this end, he received full-fledged support from his parents.
He was an active member of the ‘Kidz Bop’ group that constituted of children who performed popular contemporary songs which were archived in album compilations. He received an invitation to audition for a boy band in 2010, set up by renowned artistes including Jamie King, Simon Fuller, and Perez Hilton.
Getting selected along with Cole Pendery, Gabrielle Morales, William Jay Behlendorf, and David Scarzone to form the all-boys band IM5 has proved to be the most significant turning point in his professional career so far. The boy band came into nationwide spotlight for the first time with their single ‘Everything about You.’
IM5 recorded and produced a cover of ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’ by N. Sync in 2012 that also went on to strike a chord with the fans. However, in March 2014, Dana announced that he was leaving IM5 as he was pining to reestablish his ties with ‘Fly Away Hero’—a rock band based in Texas.
Later on, three of the founding members of IM5, Dana, Cole, and Gabrielle teamed up to form a troika to continue working on avant-garde music and going on extended tours. The accomplishments of IM5 were extraordinary as they composed, recorded, and promoted their tracks on their own without the backing of a prominent publishing label.
The IM5 band members won a Radio Disney Music Award nomination for ‘Breakout Artist of the Year’ in 2013.
