Dan Bongino is an American author, political commentator, radio show host, podcast host, politician, former congressional candidate, former 'United States Secret Service' agent, and former police officer of the 'New York City Police Department’ (NYPD). He is also an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump. After completing his post-graduation in psychology, he started working with the ‘NYPD.’ Later, he joined the 'Secret Service' and served in the protective duty of the then-president, George W. Bush, and his successor, President Barack Obama. Later, he resigned from the ‘Secret Service’ to join politics and become a writer. Though his political career has not been too successful, his writing career has made him quite popular. He has written six books, including one that is yet to be released. His books have also been bestsellers. He also established a career in the media, as an expert on politics and current affairs.

Dan Bongino was born Daniel John Bongino, on December 4, 1974, at the 'Flushing Hospital,' Queens, New York City, New York, U.S.A. He is of Italian–American descent and was raised a Catholic.
He graduated from the 'Archbishop Molloy High School,' Queens, New York City.
He played baseball while growing up.
He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from 'Queens College,' New York.

Police & Secret Service
Between 1995 and 1999, Dan Bongino worked with the ‘NYPD.'
In 1999, he started working as a special agent with the 'United States Secret Service.'
Three years later, he left the 'New York Field Office' and became a trainer at the 'James J. Rowley Training Center,' the law enforcement training academy managed by the 'United States Secret Service' in Beltsville, Maryland, U.S.
In 2006, he was assigned to the 'U.S. Presidential Protection Division,' during George W. Bush's second term as the president of the United States.
He continued to offer protective duty to the next president, Barack Obama, during his first term as the president. Dan also coordinated for the president's tour to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
One of his most challenging assignments was serving as the lead agent responsible for Obama's tour to an active war zone in Afghanistan.He served with the 'Secret Service' until May 2011. Following this, he began a career in politics and writing, simultaneously.

Political Campaigns
On April 3, 2012, Dan Bongino won the ‘Republican’ primary by gaining 33.8% of the total votes and defeating nine other candidates.
However, he contested unsuccessfully for the 'U.S. Senate' in the elections on November 6, 2012. He ranked a distant second to the incumbent, ‘Democrat’ Ben Cardin, having earned only 26.6% votes.
He had a landslide victory against Harold W. Painter, Jr. in the ‘Republican’ primary in 2014. He defeated Painter by gaining 83.5% votes, against the latter's 16.5%.
In the 2014 election, he contested from Maryland's 6th congressional district for a 'U.S. House of Representatives' seat, against incumbent Democrat John Delaney. Though Dan carried four of the district's five counties, he could not surpass a 20,500-vote difference in the district's share of Montgomery County in the outer suburbs of Washington.
He moved to Florida in 2015 and was considering running for the 'United States Senate' and Florida’s 18th congressional district in the 2016 elections. However, in June 2016, he announced that he would represent the ‘Republican Party’ from Florida's 19th congressional district. He contested the ‘Republican’ primary against Chauncey Goss and Francis Rooney. In the primary held in August 2016, he ranked third and earned only 17.39% of the total votes.

Dan Bongino married Paula Andrea (nee Martinez), a Columbian lady, in 2003. Before getting married, they dated for around 2 years. They had first met on a blind date in 2001. They are now blessed with two daughters, Isabel and Amelia, born in 2004 and 2012, respectively.
Paula works as the technical and creative partner of 'Bongino, Inc.'
He is fond of gifting earrings to his wife.
After staying in Severna Park, Maryland, until 2015, he and his family moved to Palm City, Florida.
His favorite hobby is practicing Brazilian Jiujitsu.
Trivia
In 2012, Dan Bongino and his wife owned various businesses. One of them sold martial-arts apparel. They also owned a security and risk management consultancy and operated it from their house. However, in 2016, he claimed that these organizations had been shut down.
His former colleagues at the 'Secret Service,' on condition of anonymity, have sharply criticized Dan's claims in his books.
He had reportedly verbally abused a reporter in August 2016.
