In 2018, he signed a deal with Republic Records and released his debut EP Sunset Season the same year. In 2019, he came up with multiple singles, such as The King and Comfort Crowd. In 2020, Conan Gray released his debut studio album, Kid Krow.

Conan Gray started creating videos at the age of nine and began his self-titled channel at the age of 14 in January 2013. His channel mainly had covers, original songs, and vlogs. The content on his vlogs was mainly about his life in Georgetown, Texas. His channel became popular and people liked his voice. Currently, he has more than 4.33 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

In March 2017, Conan Gray released his debut single Idle Town. The song became hugely popular and amassed millions of streams and views on Spotify and YouTube. In 2018, he signed a deal with Republic Records and released the single Generation Why in October 2018. In November 2018, he released his debut EP Sunset Season, which had five tracks, namely Idle Town, Generation Why, Crush Culture, Greek God, and Lookalike. The EP was well-received and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and at No. 116 on the Billboard 200.

Conan Gray released his debut full-length studio album Kid Krow on March 20, 2020. The album had popular singles like Maniac and Heather and it debuted at number 5 on the US Billboard 200, making it the biggest US new artist debut of 2020. In October 2020, he released the single Fake with American singer Lauv.

Conan Gray was born on December 5, 1998, in Lemon Grove, California. His father is Irish and his mother is Japanese. He has an elder sister named Alyssa. When Gray was an infant his family moved to Hiroshima, Japan to take care of his grandfather who was critically ill. After his grandfather passed away, his family moved back to California. His parents divorced when he was three years old. He spent most of his growing up years in Georgetown, Texas. In 2017, Conan Gray took admission in UCLA and moved to Los Angeles, California.
