The Meteoric Rise To Stardom

Collins always wanted to be an entertainer since his childhood. From entertaining his friends and visitors at home, he graduated to having private shows, and at the age of fifteen he created a You Tube channel of his own to showcase his magic skills.

His career as a magician and an entertainer took a giant leap when he participated in ‘America’s Got Talent’ show, hosted by celebrity, Howie Mandel. He auditioned in Episode 802 of the show, where he borrowed a dollar bill from Howie, had the serial number noted, burnt it to ashes and made it reappear in a sealed popcorn bag on the table of the host. The number of the note that reappeared was verified and found to be the same as that of the note that was burnt. With his innovative mindset, Collins changed the manner in which magic was presented on the ‘America’s Got Talent’ show and set new standards for amazement and entertainment.

Many magicians have participated before him but he was the first one to capture the attention of the audience and make it to the final round of the show where he ended at the 5th position. There is no other magician who has been able to match his performance so far.

After completing the 36 – city America’s Got Talent National Tour, he gave a pleasant surprise to his fans when he opened Demi Lovato’s 30 – city Neon Lights Tour. He captured the hearts of over 12,000 screaming fans, across USA and Canada during the tour. Never had any magician got the kind of attention that Collins received from his fans.

As his popularity soared, he was asked to be a presenter on the 2014 Teen Choice Awards, where he took centre stage with superstars like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Ansel Elgort.

He also featured as a speaker for TEDx and tops the subscriber list of magicians on You Tube. He is one of the first magicians to exploit social media to reach out to fans worldwide. With his magical skills, Collins has gathered more than 23 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, which has a variety of vlogs, challenges, DIY projects and collaborations alongside his tricks. His female fans have a social group of their own and call themselves ‘Keypers’.

Behind The Curtains

Collins Key was born in California on May 9, 1996, to Steven and Anne. He was the first child in the family and he has a younger brother named Devan. During his younger days he was quite shy and did not mix with other children.

He participated in a Shakespearean play at the age of 4 and after the experience he wanted to be an entertainer when he grew up. His first exposure was followed by his appearance in a number of events as a child, which he enjoyed doing. It was at the age of twelve, that he discovered that he could do magic and ever since his outlook to life changed. He got out of his shell and picked up a few tricks and mastered them. He then had no hesitation in walking up to a stranger and asking him / her if they wanted to see magic.

His mother heard about his talent from friends and encouraged him to hone his skills and participate in the Magic Castle’s Junior program. Thereafter, he gave a number of private performances and moved on to become a professional magician.

Collins and his brother, Devan, get along like a house on fire. They have similar interests and have made many videos on YouTube together that have made them famous as siblings. His current relationship status on social media is single.
