Brett Cullen is an American actor who has performed in several TV shows and movies. He has performed a variety of roles on the small as well as the big screen. Cullen was interested in acting from an early age. He enrolled at the ‘University of Houston’ to study acting. He made his acting debut in in the miniseries ‘The Chisholms,’ in which he portrayed ‘Gideon Chisholm.’ His debut movie was ‘Stewardess School,’ in which he played the protagonist, ‘Philo Henderson.’ Although he bagged the lead role in his first movie, Cullen failed to get similar roles in later movies. Cullen played a fencing instructor, ‘Danny Gallagher,’ in the movie ‘By the Sword.’ He was a part of the cast of the super hit movie ‘Apollo 13.’ Cullen appeared in films, such as ‘Ghost Rider,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ and ‘The Guilt Trip.’ He has had a more flourishing career in TV series. Cullen was a part of the main cast of series, such as ‘Falcon Crest,’ and ‘The Young Riders.’ Culler owns a film production company, ‘The Yellow Rose, Inc,’ which he co-owns with his singer friend, Meat Loaf.

Brett Cullen was born Peter Brett Cullen, on August 26, 1956, in Houston, Texas. His father, Lucien Hugh Cullen, was an executive in an oil company. Catherine Cullen is his mother. He has two brothers, and one sister.
In 1974, Brett Cullen graduated from the ‘Madison High School.’ Thereafter he joined the ‘University of Houston’ to study acting. In 1979, he graduated from the university with a ‘B.A in Theater.’ While in the university, Cullen found an acting mentor in his professor Cecil Pickett. Dennis Quaid, who later became an actor, was his close friend at the university. In 2012, the ‘University of Houston’ awarded Cullen a ‘distinguished alumni’ award.

Career
In 1980, Cullen made his TV debut in the miniseries ‘The Chisholms.’ It was aired on the ‘CBS’ network and Cullen portrayed ‘Gideon Chisholm.’ In the subsequent years, he made small appearances in series, such as ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ and ‘The Thorn Birds.’
In 1986, Brett Cullen made his film debut in the comedy film ‘Stewardess School.’ He played the protagonist, ‘Philo Henderson,’ in the film. Cullen’s character, ‘Philo,’ was an aspiring pilot, forced to join a school for stewards. The movie revolved around the misadventures in the life of ‘Philo.’
In 1986, Cullen was chosen to portray ‘Dan Fixx,’ one of the main characters, in the American soap opera ‘Falcon Crest.’ It was a popular series aired on the ‘CBS’ network. The story revolved around a tyrannical matriarch, and her clashes with the rest of the family. Cullen’s character was the ward of the protagonist. He remained on the show till 1988.
In 1989, Cullen acted in in the series ‘The Young Riders.’ It was the story of a group of ‘Pony Express’ riders. Cullen performed as ‘Sam Cain’ in the first season of the series. He appeared in twenty four episodes. In 1995, Cullen performed as ‘CAPCOM 1,’ in the highly acclaimed movie, ‘Apollo 13.’
In 1998, Cullen played the lead role in the drama series ‘Legacy,’ which was aired on the ‘UPN.’ In the series, Cullen performed as ‘Ned Logan,’ who was a widowed patriarch of a family. The series was short-lived.
In 2000, Brett Cullen portrayed a football player, ‘Eddie Martel,’ in the sports comedy movie ‘The Replacements.’ His character was the primary antagonist of the movie. In 2001, Cullen performed in TV series, such as ‘Walker, Texas Ranger,’ ‘Once and Again,’ and ‘Family Law.’ In 2002, he performed as the father of the protagonist, ‘Carson Drew,’ in the TV movie ‘Nancy Drew.’
In 2004, Cullen performed as ‘Xander’ in the Disney channel original movie ‘Pixel Perfect.’ From 2004 to 2005, he performed as ‘Detective Burnett,’ in a few episodes of the TV series ‘Desperate Housewives.’
From 2005 to 2006, Brett Cullen acted in a recurring role in the political drama series ‘The West Wing.’ It was a highly influential series aired on the ‘NBC’ network. In the series, Cullen appeared as ‘Governor Ray Sullivan.’ From 2009 to 2012, Cullen performed as ‘Mark Keeler’ in the series ‘Make It or Break It.’ From 2011 to 2016, he was seen as ‘Nathan Ingram’ in the science fiction series ‘Person of Interest.’
In 2012, Cullen performed as Congressman Byron Gilley in the film ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ From 2013 to 2015, he performed as ‘Michael Stappord’ in the comedy drama series ‘Devious Maids.’ In 2014, he performed in a recurring role in the series ‘Under the Dome.’
