Rise to Stardom
Despite being married to a Hollywood celebrity, Anne Stringfield is camera-shy and leads a private life away from the watchful eyes of the paparazzi. According to her husband, she never walked the red carpet or attended star-studded events with him. Interestingly, she even managed to avoid the media after the birth of her daughter in December 2012, as her husband, a first-time father at 67 years, attracted all the attention. However, she gained unexpected media coverage in June 2015 when she accompanied her husband to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to receive the 43rd American Film Institute Life Achievement Award. Martin's co-actor and friend, Tina Fey, in her funny speech, drew attention to the striking resemblance Stringfield had to her, stating that he married "a woman who is the younger, thinner, smarter version of me". Later, responding to the comment during an interview with 'People', Martin playfully admitted that she did look like Fey. Apart from that, she has remained elusive to the media.
Relationship with Steve Martin

Anne Stringfield got in touch with comedian and actor Steve Martin for the first time while working as a fact-checker for the 'New Yorker' in the mid-2000s. She was assigned to check one of his comedy pieces, for which she had to call him several times. The two talked over phone for about a year before meeting in person. Martin, who is an introvert despite being a celebrity, reportedly was intrigued by deeply shy Stringfield. Speaking of their first meeting, he would later describe her with a line from Wordsworth saying that she is probably the kind of beauty that inspired the Romantic poet to write "that whole 'violet by a mossy stone' thing".

After three years of dating, the two secretly got married at a surprise party at Steve Martin's Los Angeles home on July 28, 2007. Most of the 75 guests in attendance, including his close friends, actors Tom Hanks and Eugene Levy, comedian Carl Reiner, and magician/actor Ricky Jay, were unaware of the marriage and had only come to attend the party. The wedding ceremony, which was held outdoors under the stars, was presided over by Nebraska Senator Bob Kerrey. Anne Stringfield’s sister was maid of honor at the wedding, while 'Saturday Night Live!' creator Lorne Michaels was the best man. While this was Stringfield's first marriage, Martin was previously married to British actress Victoria Tennant from 1986 to 1994. Reportedly, he also dated a host of high profile celebrities including actresses Bernadette Peters and the late Carrie Fisher, and artist Cindy Sherman. Following the marriage, the couple went to the West Indies for their honeymoon.

Anne Stringfield’s gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Mary, in December 2012, at the age of 40. Despite being married before for nearly a decade, this was the first time the 67-year-old comedian became a father. This became big news in the entertainment industry, with Martin giving interviews to several TV shows and magazines about his experience of becoming a father at that age. Talking to an interview, he mentioned that he would have made a lousy parent before, but now that he did not have to worry about his career anymore, he can spend as much time with his daughter as he wanted to ‘The name of the daughter also remained a secret for a long time, with Martin joking on The Late Show With David Letterman’ in April 2013 that they considered 'Conquistador' as one of the names. However, Stringfield has only made one or two appearances to the media with her daughter since her birth.
