Amy Slaton started her Youtube channel with her sister Tammy Slaton, under the name Slaton Sisters, in 2011. Their first video was titled “New slaton sister vlog.” The sister duo began posting vlogs, product reviews, and makeup videos that gradually began to grow popular on Youtube. Later down the line, Amy Slaton took over the channel and changed its name to Amy Slaton-Halterman. The most-watched video on the channel is titled “The power of makeup.”

In 2020, the Slaton Sisters starred in the reality television series 1000-lb Sisters on TLC. The series delves into the personal lives and struggles of the sisters and also showcases their journey toward losing weight. The series finished its third season in January 2022.

In 2010, Amy Slaton was arrested on the charge of stealing a book from a store. Four months later, she was fined $400 by the court for the offense. She has also been accused of abuse against animals by her own sister. In a now-deleted video, Tammy shared how Amy left her dog, Little Bit, locked in a car during a hot sunny day when they went to an arcade. Previously, Amy had adopted a German Shepherd who was a former police dog. However, the dog tried to escape from Amy's house and even bit her when she tried to stop it. This led to Amy taking the dog to the pound where it was put down. She was heavily criticized for her decision and lambasted by many fans and even fellow Youtube stars.

In 2015, Amy Slaton started a GoFundMe page on the pretext that her sister was dying of pneumonia and she needed money for the funeral. While she managed to raise over $1000, it was soon revealed that her sister was doing just fine. This enraged Amy’s fans who accused her of stealing and defrauding them.
