When he was working as a cashier in a Target store, an unknown girl clicked his photo and posted it online with a caption reading ‘letting people know about his good looks, just for fun.’ This strange little act turned out to be a life-changing experience for Alex. Soon after posting his picture, people started locating him on Twitter and within a month, he had more than 700,000 followers on the platform. As his popularity grew, he was invited by Ellen DeGeneres to be part of her talk show, which furthered his fame. On the show, he spoke about his sudden fame and how he is managing to cope with it. He even had to drop out of school in order to manage the sudden change of routine in his life. In many of his interviews, he has described the experience as ‘way too overwhelming’. As he became extremely popular on social media, he re-started his YouTube channel, which was earlier shut down by his manager.
