Like any other social media star who puts their life before the world, Alejandro has attracted some negativity from internet trolls and even some of his fans. In 2017, Alejandro drew a ‘Nazi swastika’ on his finger while in school and later posted a TikTok (earlier known as Musical.ly) video without removing it. The video immediately gained negative attention and criticism from fans and many on social media. He removed the video soon and later apologized saying it wasn’t meant to cause any harm and was a joke. On December 12, 2017, he even posted a video on YouTube ‘IM A NATZI’ explaining the background story. Silva explained that it was a girl in his school who saw the video and spread the rumor of him being Nazi to gain attention.
On November 13, 2017, Alejandro posted the video the ‘truth.... i actually am..’. It was a heartfelt reaction to online hate for people going as far as to ask him to kill himself and criticizing for wearing makeup. Questions were raised about his sexual orientation as well. He explained that his choices were his own and that he felt incredibly sad at the hate towards him. He received support from his longtime fans on social media after the incident.
