Childhood & Early life
A Boogie was born Artist Julius Dubose in Highbridge, Bronx. His exact date of birth is not known and there seems to be a confusion regarding his birth year as well. Sources reveal that the year of his birth could either be 1995 or 1996.
A Boogie, along with his brothers, grew up in Bronx, New York City. His initial days at DeWitt Clinton High School were smooth and normal. He was a shy and secretive boy and he used to compose his own rhymes. Though he never shared his compositions with anyone, it would later play a major role in his musical career.
When he entered his high school, he became notorious for skipping classes and for peddling drugs. His parents then sent him to Florida, hoping that he would complete his high school there without getting himself into trouble.
In Florida, A Boogie was kept under house arrest. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him as he had plenty of time to kill which allowed him to focus on music. He started off by tweaking his self-composed rhymes and gradually one thing led to another.
Inspired by Kanye West and 50 Cent, A Boogie started rapping. He even built an amateur studio inside the flat that he lived in. Meanwhile, he completed his high school from Performance-Based Preparatory Academy, Florida.
After his graduation, A Boogie started concentrating more on his compositions and did a few odd jobs in order to support his finances.

Career
The first song of A Boogie was titled ‘Temporary’. He was just nineteen at the time of its release. The song lacked good rhythm and flow which is usually required for a good hip-hop number. Myster Whyte, the producer of the song, hired a trainer and asked A Boogie to work with his trainer until he gets his techniques right.
The training sessions helped him a lot and he incorporated all that he learned into his raps. A Boogie shifted to New York where he further polished his skills and started preparing himself for a grand comeback.
A boogie collaborated with rapper Quincy “QP” Acheampong to create a home studio and a music label. They created High Bridge the Label and released their first full-length mixtape, ‘Artist’. The mixtape released in February 2016 and A Boogie made it to the Forbes list of up-and-coming rappers for the year.
Since the young musician went through a terrible break-up when he was working on the project, he incorporated all his emotions and experiences into his compositions and that took his tracks to the next level. He was so affected by the break-up that its influence continued in his subsequent compositions too.
A Boogie then collaborated with rapper Don Q for his next album which he titled ‘Highbridge the Label: The Takeover Vol. 1.’ The album released in May 2016. He was then signed by the Atlantis Records.
A Boogie, along with artists like Don Q, Russ, Kent Jones and Nick Grant, performed at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
By the end of the year, A Boogie released his debut Extended Play, ‘TBA’. Released in October 2016, the EP secured the 63rd position in the US Billboard 200 chart. The EP also made it to the Rolling Stone magazine’s list of ‘40 Best Rap Albums of 2016’. Out of all the tracks in the EP, four earned the sales certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The tracks, ‘Drowning ft. Kodak Black’ and ‘My Shit’, gained the platinum status, while ‘Jungle’ and ‘Timeless’ gained gold status.
A Boogie was listed in the top ten Freshmen of XXL, 2017. ‘XXL’ is an American magazine, dedicated to hip-hop artists and is published by Townsquare Media. A Boogie has given numerous chartbusters that have contributed to his net-worth which currently stands at 3.5 million US dollars.
