One of the most important Pakistani singers of all time, Noor Jehan is also widely regarded as one of the most influential and greatest South Asian singers of all time.

British singer and model Noor-ul-in "Annie" Khalid became famous in Pakistan with her first single Mahiya that emerged as a big hit and the most-played Pakistani song during 2005-07. The song was used in the Indian neo-noir action thriller film Awarapan. Her fundraising efforts for Pakistani flood victims led Khalid to become Red Cross Goodwill ambassador of Norway in 2011.

Iqbal Bano was a Pakistani ghazal singer best remembered for her classical thumris and semi-classical ghazal songs. She was renowned for singing the ghazals of the Lenin Prize-winning poet, Faiz Ahmed Faiz. In 1974, Iqbal Bano was honored with the prestigious Presidential Pride of Performance Award for her contribution to music.

Ghazala Javed was a Pakistani Pashtun singer whose songs achieved popularity in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and among the Pashtun population around the world. One of the most-sought after and popular Pashto singers of her generation, Javed was honored with a Khyber Award in 2011. Ghazala Javed was shot dead on June 18, 2012, at the age of 24.
