In this alternate Arthurian legend, Arthur is orphaned at a young age after his uncle leads a coup to dethrone his father, King Uther Pendragon of Briton, and kills his mother. Papillon is a drama film which tells the story of a man named Henri, who is wrongly convicted of murder, and sent to a hellish prison in French Guiana from which nobody has ever escaped. He befriends a counterfeiter named Louis Dega, and they form an unlikely alliance. When Henri saves Dega’s life, the latter agrees to help him escape. However, his first attempt fails and he is placed in solitary confinement. Eventually Henri is released, but Dega has accepted the prison life and is no longer interested in making another attempt to escape. However, Henri refuses to give up.
