Sivuca was a Brazilian accordionist, guitarist, and singer. He began his career as a teenager and performed with musician and future politician Humberto Teixeira. He started working with Scandinavian jazz musicians in the 1980s and became known for designing his own unconventional musical instruments. Besides Brazil, he has also worked and lived in Paris, Lisbon, and New York City.
