Trill Sammy is an American rapper and singer best known for his song ‘Trappin'. He commenced his career as a high school student and utilised social media well like many of the rappers of his time to showcase his talent. He started gaining attention after he posted his short rap video on Vine and Twitter. While his popularity with the local fans continued to increase online after he posted his short freestyle with Born Stunna titled ‘Netflix and Chill’, he landed up with his breakthrough when he along with fellow Houston rapper Dice Soho released the single ‘Just Watch’ that went viral quickly setting the stage for both the artists. Trill rose to fame when his song ‘Trappin’ from his album titled ‘Red Album’ released gaining him widespread recognition. He went on to release several tracks both singly and in collaborations. These include ‘Uber Everywhere’, ‘Martin’, ‘Do Not Disturb’ and ‘Feel Better’.
Rise to Fame
He began his career while he was attending high school. He first garnered the spotlight in 2015 when he posted his short rap video on Twitter and Vine that eventually went viral. The video that he collaborated with Born Stunna, a short freestyle titled ‘Netflix and Chill’ gradually started gaining attention from local fans which led him to garner umpteen followers online. While he continued to build his online following, this Texan rapper and singer who embraced an Atlanta trap sound and have a sound similar to the Atlanta trio Migos and rapper Lil Uzi Vert, got his breakthrough in 2015 itself with the single ‘Just Watch’ that he collaborated with fellow Houston rapper Dice Soho. In no time the single went viral upping the popularity of both the rappers. Trill also collaborated with Soho later to release the song ‘Really Matter in 2016.
In 2016, he released the song ‘Check Out’ produced by Fredonem. That year on May 8, he came up with his debut extended play titled ‘Red Album’ that included nine tracks featuring several artists like Slim Thug, Kirko Bangz, Soulja Boy, Dj XO, and Dice SoHo among others. The track ‘Trappin’ from the EP that he released earlier on YouTube on September 29, 2015 was written by him and produced by Than CpainBeatz. The single became a huge hit propelling Trill to achieve new heights in his career and elevating him into mainstream Houston culture. Till present the song has gained more than 4.8 million views in his self-titled YouTube channel. Other tracks of the EP included ‘Wat We Want’, Jumpin', ‘Rick Ross’ and ‘How It Feel’. He also released the single ‘Wholesale’ in 2016.
In November 2016, he came up with the mixtape titled ‘Sorry 4 The Sleep’. The mixtape included freestyle tracks like ‘No Heart’, ‘Hot Like Houston, TX’, ‘Uber Everywhere’, ‘Like Dat’ and ‘Walked In’. Among these, ‘Uber Everywhere’ was played on the Soundcloud for more than 24 million times. He has remained part of many musical tours so far. On October 24, 2017, he did a concert in Austin Texas along with Maxo Kream and No Jumper among others. He also collaborated with Slim Jxmmi, one-half of the Atlanta-based duo Rae Sremmurd, to release the singles ‘Feel Better’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’ in 2018.
Trill has gained considerable following online through his accounts in different social media platforms. He opened his Twitter account ‘TrillSammyy’ in June 2015 which till present has accumulated over 260 K followers. The popular videos of his self-titled YouTube account, which he created on September 22, 2015, has led him to garner more than 111 K subscribers and a whooping count of over 21 million views. He was born on November 30, 1997, in Texas, USA. He was raised in Houston, Texas. There is hardly any information available on family background, parents, early childhood and education of Trill who is of African and Puerto Rican ethnicity.
