Stevie Ryan Biography

Stevie Ryan started her career in the field of entertainment at the age of 19, kicking off with modeling. She initially had an appearance in Hillary Duff's music video "So Yesterday". During 2006 and 2007, she featured in several commercials and also started her YouTube channel in this period. She created and posted parodies on pop culture icons that soon developed a cult-like following. Her characters Little Loca and Sceney Sceneable became very popular and attracted the attention of millions across the world. Ryan gained a considerable number of subscribers within a short while and her channel soon caught the attention of New Wave Entertainment who contacted her in 2010. Impressed by her talent and creative mind, NWE asked her to collaborate with them for a sketch comedy show. Soon, they launched their new series ‘Stevie TV’ that began airing on VH1. The show managed to earn critical acclaim for parodying top pop culture personalities. The success of the show further boosted Ryan’s popularity as a social media personality. Besides YouTube, she was also active on several other social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, on which she had decent numbers of followers.

Stevie Ryan was born on June 2, 1984, in Riverside, California, USA. Her parents operated a trucking business. She attended Silverado High School and graduated in 2002. She was married to Darius Zayas. She enjoyed hanging out with her pet dogs and watching TV. She also loved doing DIY crafts.

On July 1, 2017, Ryan committed suicide by hanging. The death of her grandfather, who had expired two days prior, is said to have triggered her suicide. She had earlier openly shared her struggle with depression and admitted to having suicidal thoughts. She had also stated that she had resorted to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy in order to fight depression; however, she was not happy with the results of the treatment.

The news of Ryan’s death came as a shock to millions as no one could believe that a person who made others laugh could have been suffering from depression so severe that she took her own life.
