Professional Life
Sebastian Bear started his Hollywood career as an editorial assistant when he worked in the film ‘Broken Flowers,’ which was released in 2005. He then went on to gain prominence as a producer for making critically acclaimed films, such as ‘Good Time’ and ‘Heaven Knows What.’

He first invested in the American-French drama film ‘Heaven Knows What.’ The film starred Arielle Holmes, who is also the author of ‘Mad Love in New York City,’ an unpublished memoir on which the film was based. Just before the production of this film, Sebastian was introduced to the Safdie brothers, the New York based scriptwriter and filmmaker duo. Safdie brothers were eventually given the responsibility of directing the film.

Sebastian and Safdie brothers worked together for two years in finding the suitable leading lady for the film, before finally zeroing in on Arielle Holmes. Sebastian later said that the entire process of filming ‘Heaven Knows What’ was a learning experience. His friendship with Safdie brothers grew while they were working on the film. This friendship helped him in his Hollywood career as a producer.

‘Heaven Knows What’ was premiered at the 71st ‘Venice Film Festival’ and was honored with the ‘CICAE Award.’ Later, it was chosen as the official entry into the ‘Toronto International Film Festival,’ ‘New York Film Festival,’ and ‘Tokyo Film Festival.’ It went on to win the ‘Grand Prix’ and ‘Best Director Award’ at the 27th ‘Tokyo International Film Festival.’

Sebastian once again collaborated with Safdie brothers for the film ‘Good Time,’ which was released in 2017. The film starred Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson with whom Sebastian went on to work on numerous other occasions.

In 2017, Sebastian, along with Safdie brothers, announced the remake of the critically acclaimed 1982 film, ‘48 Hrs.’ They are also planning to film a story based on the famous Diamond District in New York. The film is tentatively titled as ‘Uncut Gems.’ Sebastian received many nominations, including ‘Best Feature Film’ for ‘Good Time’ and ‘John Cassavetes Award’ for ‘Heaven Knows What.’

Relationship with Emily Ratajkowski

Sebastian got married to model and actress Emily Ratajkowski on February 23, 2018. The couple had a low-key wedding in New York City. However, the event made headlines for several other reasons. The news of their wedding came across as a surprise to their fans as the couple had kept their relationship under wraps. Neither had they spoken about their relationship nor did they ever confirm dating each other.

According to a few sources, the couple had met at a basketball game featuring New York Knicks, but few other say that they had met much earlier. In 2017, the couple was seen spending quality time at a restaurant in Los Angeles. Some sources suggest that they both started seeing each other in January 2018, after Emily broke up with her then boyfriend, Jeff Magid.

Another factor that made their wedding the talk of the town was their wedding dress, which was too simple. Sebastian wore a simple blue business suit, while Emily sported a Zara pantsuit which she accessorized with a black veil hat. Among the guest list was the popular Instagram star, Josh Ostrovsky, better known as ‘The Fat Jew.’

On March 8, 2021, the couple welcomed their first child, Sylvester Apollo Bear. In 2022, Sebastian and Emily got divorced.
