Childhood & Early Life
Sara Eisen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, to paediatric dentist Dr. Jane Eisen and dermatologist Dr. Drore Eisen. Contradictory information is available on her birth date. Some online sources claim that she was born on August 7, 1984, while others state that her birth occurred in 1985. There are a few websites that even show that it occurred on December 9, 1970, or August 7, 1970. Those are clearly incorrect, as according to a ‘New York Times’ article on her wedding published on May 29, 2016, she was 31 years old at the time.

Education & Career
After graduating from high school, Sara Eisen enrolled at the New York University to study televised reporting and business coverage and earned her bachelor’s degree from there. While she was at NYU, she landed an internship with a start-up website called ForexTV,com, where she had the much-needed exposure to the foreign exchange market and currencies. Her time there also made her understand how ill-fitted she was for pursuing a career in journalism. She decided to fix that and began attending the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University for a master’s degree in broadcast journalism. During this period, she got the chance to report from all over Chicago. After she graduated, she went to Hong Kong to work for Bloomberg TV as an intern. She was part of the behind-the-scenes production team as a writer and editor. She also did general production assistant work during her time there. In the four months she spent in Hong Kong, she travelled extensively to other parts of the region, including the Philippines.
In 2008, she came back to US and became a full-time employee at Bloomberg in New York. During this period, America was experiencing the second biggest financial crisis in a hundred years, right after the Great Depression of the 1930s. She joined the New York office as a production assistant and did as many stories on the dollar as possible, which, by then, was on the rise again. The breakthrough moment in her career came when Bloomberg Radio allowed her to do a segment on currencies. She still worked as a production assistant for Bloomberg TV, but she also hosted a one-minute currency update, called ‘On the Economy’, every day on her own time for radio. The markets had become erratic, and Bloomberg desperately required people who really understood them. After constantly putting herself forward for months, she was made the co-anchor of ‘Bloomberg Surveillance’. In 2013, Eisen was featured in the documentary ‘Red Obsession’.
After leaving Bloomberg, she was hired by CNBC as a correspondent focusing on the global consumer in December 2013. In 2014, she made an appearance in an episode of the CNBC show ‘Fast Money’. That year, she also started co-hosting ‘Squawk on the Street’, which airs from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. ET. From 2016 to 2018, she served as a co-host of ‘Worldwide Exchange’. Between March and November 2018, she was the co-host of ‘Power Lunch’. Eisen left ‘Power Lunch’ to be the co-host of ‘Closing Bell’. The show is broadcast from Monday to Friday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. ET.
She edited the publication “Currencies After the Crash: The Uncertain Future of the Global Paper-Based Currency System”, which was put out in January 2013 through McGraw-Hill.
