RJ Cyler is an American actor, widely known for his performances in ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’ and ‘Power Rangers.’ Born into a humble but supportive family, Cyler worked hard and achieved his dream of becoming an actor at a tender age. Early Life & Childhood
RJ Cyler was born Ronald Cyler II, on March 21, 1995, in Jacksonville, Florida.
He is the youngest of the three children of Katina and Ronald Cyler and has always been the entertainer of the house.
His father, Ronald, was a truck driver, and his mother, Katina, was a cook.
Performing arts attracted Cyler since a tender age, and at the age of 12, he started a dance team with his older brother.
Cyler’s parents were extremely supportive of his childhood dream of becoming an actor. They moved from Florida to California in 2013, in pursuit of his dream.
Cyler finished high school in California.

In 2012, when Cyler was 17 years old, he heard about open auditions for a commercial in Jacksonville.
Soon, he was advised by his mentor to move to Los Angeles for better opportunities. Thus, the family decided to relocate.
In 2013, at merely 18 years of age, Cyler got his first role, in a short film named ‘Second Chances.’
In 2015, Cyler got his first breakthrough. He was cast in the leading role of ‘Earl’ in the movie ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.’ The movie was a commercial and critical success and brought the world’s attention to Cyler.
In 2016, he bagged a role in the ‘HBO’ series ‘Vice Principals.’
The following year, Cyler played the role of ‘Billy Cranston,’ the “Blue Ranger,” in the reboot of the ‘Power Rangers.’ His performance as an autistic, intelligent loner earned him widespread acclaim and popularity.
He was cast in the lead role of ‘Deion Elliot’ in the ‘VH1’ series ‘Scream.’
In 2018, Cyler was seen in the lead role of ‘Dan’ in the ‘Netflix’ comedy–drama film ‘Sierra Burgess is a Loser.’
The same year, Cyler was cast in the biographical crime-drama film ‘White Boy Rick,’ in which he performed the role of a gangster’s son named ‘Rudell Curry.’
