Phoebe Mercedes Fox is an English stage and film actress. After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Fox entered into the world of theatre by appearing in popular productions of ‘A Month in the Country’, ‘As You Like It’, ‘The Acid Test’, and ‘There Is A War’ at various festivals. Her impressive performances on the stage won her the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer and Fox’s career as an actress started off with a flourish. She continued performing theatre but eventually branched out into TV and films as well. She was first seen in the hit ‘One Day’ and later appeared in an episode of the popular sci-fi series ‘Black Mirror’. Soon enough, Fox started appearing in recurring roles and was eventually cast as the lead in the series ‘Life in Squares’ and ‘Close to the Enemy’. Her other notable projects include ‘The Hollow Crown’, ‘Eye in the Sky’ and ‘NW’. Fox continued her association with theatre by performing popular plays such as ‘King Lear’ and ‘Twelfth Night’. She was recently seen in the TV series ‘Curfew’ and is currently working on the TV series ‘The Great’.

Phoebe Fox parents are actors and she developed an interest in stage and theatre very early in her life. She honed her acting skills by training at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Phoebe Fox began her career on stage by performing at Chichester Festival Theatre with ‘A Month in the Country’ in 2010. She continued her stint with theatre in 2011 and was seen in plays such as ‘As You Like It’, ‘The Acid Test’, and ‘There Is A War’. Her stage performances won her the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer. In the same year, she made her film debut with a minor role in the hit ‘One Day’; later, she debuted on TV with the series ‘Black Mirror’ in the episode titled ‘The Entire History of You’. In 2012, she appeared in minor roles in the TV series ‘Coming Up’ and ‘New Tricks’ before receiving a bigger billing in the comedy drama ‘Switch’. Phoebe Fox appeared in six episodes and played the lead role. However, the series was scrapped after the first season. Despite gaining a foothold in the film industry, Fox returned to theatre and played the role of Cordelia in the Almeida Theatre’s production of ‘King Lear’ in 2012.
In 2014, Phoebe Fox was first seen in the TV series ‘The Musketeers’ as the Duchess of Savoy. Later, she appeared as Liz Reitell in the TV movie ‘A Poet in New York’ and as Stella in the short movie ‘A Moment to Move’. Soon enough, Phoebe Fox was cast as the lead in the Tom Harper drama ‘War Book’, where she starred alongside Sophie Okonedo and Ben Chaplin. The movie was praised by the critics. Fox also turned to theatre with the production of ‘A View from the Bridge’, where she played the role of Catherine. Toward the end of the year, she played the role of Eve Parkins in the horror ‘The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death’.
Phoebe Fox began 2015 by performing ‘A View from the Bridge’ again at the National Theatre. Next, she played the role of Vanessa Bell in the TV miniseries ‘Life in Squares’ and followed this up with the Gavin Hood drama thriller ‘Eye in the Sky’. The movie starred the likes of Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman and performed well at the box office. In 2016, Fox was cast as Anne in the TV series ‘The Hollow Crown’. Later, she appeared in the movies ‘Dead Tongues’ and ‘NW’. She received another leading role with the TV miniseries ‘Close to the Enemy,’ where she played the role of Kathy Griffiths in seven episodes. Written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff, the BBC series was popular and well-received by the audience.
Fox began 2017 by performing the role of Olivia in the Shakespeare production of ‘Twelfth Night’ at the Royal National Theatre. This kept her occupied for most of the year and she didn’t make an appearance on the big screen. In 2018, she was cast as Katherine Rookwood in the Hadi Hajaig comedy film ‘Blue Iguana’. In 2019, she landed the lead role of Kaye Newman in the Sky One series ‘Curfew’. Fox went on appear in all of the eight episodes of the series. She will be seen in the movies ‘The Aeronauts’ and ‘Intrigo: Samaria’ in 2019. Apart from this, she is currently busy filming for the TV series ‘The Great’, which is scheduled for release in 2020.
