Pauline Chalamet is a French-American actress, writer, director and producer. She is primarily known for her work in short films. The older sister of Oscar-nominated actor Timothee Chalamet, Pauline made her screen debut in a 1999 episode of ‘One Life to Live’. In 2016, she wrote, directed, and starred in the short film ‘Between Fear and Laughter’. She has since written and appeared in several other projects, including ‘Agnès et Milane’, which was also her first project as a producer. Many of Pauline’s projects are also in the pipeline. At the 90th Academy Awards, she made an appearance as her brother’s guest.

Career
In 1999, at the age of seven, Pauline made her acting debut in a season one episode of ABC’s long-running soap opera ‘One Life to Live’. She portrayed Emma Doyle. Her next work as an actress came about a decade later, in 2009. She was cast as the lead ballerina in the second episode of the first season of USA Network’s ‘Royal Pains.’
In 2016, Pauline wrote and directed her first project as a filmmaker, ‘Between Fear and Laughter’. She also appeared in the film, playing the character named Claire. In 2017, she debuted as a producer with the short film ‘Agnès et Milane’. Co-written by Pauline and Délia Espinat-Dief and directed by Tristan Tilloloy, the film tells the story of Agnès (Espinat-Dief), who relocates to Paris and meets local barista Milane (Pauline). In time, the two central characters grow closer.
In 2017, she portrayed the titular character in Selen P. Flores and Hannah L. Smith’s short film ‘Margot’. Produced by Le Bout de Prod and Tout Seuls Productions, the film depicts how a night of debauchery in Paris turns into a horrifying experience for four American students when the youngest girl, Margot, goes missing. Pauline played the character L'Américaine in Myriam Doumenq’s ‘En ville’ (2018), which she also produced.
She is set to appear in Doumenq’s ‘Entre Deux’. The script of the film has been written by Pauline and also stars Samantha Woolfe and Lilah Liesel Woolfe. She is the co-writer and director of another upcoming short film, ‘The Group Chat’.

Pauline was born on January 2, 1992, in New York, USA. Her father is Marc Chalamet, an editor for UNICEF. Her mother, Nicole Flender, has been a real estate agent and former Broadway dancer. Marc is a French protestant while Nicole is a third-generation American Jew. Pauline is almost four years older than Timothée, who was born on December 27, 1995. Pauline and her brother grew up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood of New York City's Manhattan borough. Through her mother, Pauline is related to filmmaker Rodman Flender (maternal uncle), television producer and writer Amy Lippman (maternal aunt), screenwriter Harold Flender (maternal grandfather), and former Broadway dancer Enid Flender, née Rodman (maternal grandmother). As with Pauline and other members of their family, Timothée is also involved in the entertainment industry. He was nominated for an Academy Award for portraying Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino’s coming-of-age romantic drama ‘Call Me By Your Name’. For his performance as Nic Sheff in ‘Beautiful Boy’ (2018), he has been nominated for the BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Pauline spent part of her childhood in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, a French village where her paternal grandparents reside. Her paternal grandmother is a Canadian who had relocated to France. Pauline herself currently resides in Paris. She accompanied her brother to the 90th Academy Awards. While he was one of the nominees in the Best Actor category, the award eventually went to English actor Gary Oldman for his portrayal of Sir Winston Churchill in ‘Darkest Hour’ (2017).
