Childhood & Early Life
Orianne Cevey was born in Nyon, Switzerland. Her father is a Swiss while her mother is from Thailand. As a kid, Orianne was interested in sports and would often play games like tennis and golf. She would also go skiing along with her friends and often indulge in physical activities.
She started her mixed martial arts training at a young age and has even earned a black belt for her efforts. As a teenager, Orianne wanted to pursue a career in jewelry designing, but her father wanted her to study Business Management. She enrolled at the ‘University of Switzerland,’ from where she graduated with a major in International Management.
Career
Orianne started her career as a marketing & communications manager at a capital firm in Switzerland. After gaining enough experience, she started her own event management company in 1994. She also started working as a translator, which got closer to Phil Collins. In 2002, she appeared as herself in Phil Collin’s television documentary, ‘Phil Collins: A Life Less Ordinary.’ In 2014, she started her own line of jewelry. She also started designing her own jewelry and went on to establish a career as a jewelry designer.
Relationship with Phil Collins
Orianne met Phil in 1994 when the famous musician was touring Switzerland as part of his promotional events. Since he was in need of a translator, he hired Orianne to help him get through his promotional events and press meetings. They soon started dating, but it was largely a causal relationship, at least for the first two years. In 1997, the couple decided to get engaged. Both Orianne and Phil Collins were head over heels in love with each other and decided to take their relationship to the next level by walking down the aisle in 1999.
Their wedding caught the attention of many as Orianne was 21 years younger to Phil. As expected, it was a high profile wedding, which included names like Eric Clapton and Sir Elton John in its guest list. As Phil was married twice prior to his wedding with Orianne, the paparazzi got more interested. In 2000, Orianne and Phil founded the ‘Little Dreams Foundation,’ which continues to strive towards fulfilling the goals of underprivileged children. In April 2001, the couple was blessed with their first child, Nicholas Grev Austin. On December 1, 2004, Orianne gave birth to her second child, Matthew Thomas Clemente. In 2002, Phil announced that he would no longer be taking part in world tours in order to spend more time with his family. The family settled down in a posh property overlooking Lake Geneva. The property was once owned by Grand Prix legend, Sir Jackie Stewart.
Million Dollar Divorce
In 2006, it was announced that Orianne and Phil had filed for a divorce, citing personal differences. Their divorce was finalized in 2008 and Orianne received a divorce settlement worth £25 million. It was the highest paid divorce settlement in the United Kingdom at the time. Not surprisingly, their million dollar divorce became the talk of the town as it was covered extensively by the media. Even before their divorce, Orianne had entered into a relationship with an investment banker named Charles Fouad Mejjati. She married Charles soon after her divorce with Phil. Orianne and Charles were blessed with their first child Andrea Ryan Kylian in March 2011. However, this marriage too did not last long as she divorced Charles in 2017.
Paralysis & Brown-Sequard Syndrome
In 2014, Orianne Cevey was treated for a slipped disc in her neck. She had to undergo a surgery, which replaced the damaged disc with a prosthetic. Unfortunately, the surgery left her paralyzed, which prompted Orianne to lodge a complaint against the hospital, where she had undergone the surgery. It was later revealed that Orianne had Brown-Sequard syndrome, which was one of the reasons why she was left paralyzed post the surgery. Thereafter, she underwent months of rehabilitation, which enabled her walk again, but with the help of a cane.
Personal Life
In January 2016, Orianne and Phil announced that they got back together and were living together, along with their sons. Phil went on to say that breaking up with Orianne was a mistake and that he is happy she is back into his life. Orianne stated that she never stopped loving Phil and that it took her a while to realize that he was the love of her life. She even said that they might go on to marry each other for a second time!
In October 2017, Orianne and Phil held a press conference and announced that they would continue working towards the betterment of their organization, ‘Little Dreams Foundation.’ They currently live together in their Miami residence, along with their children, Nicholas Grev Austin and Matthew Thomas Clemente. Orianne also has her own website, which sells jewelry for women, men, and kids.
