Merritt Patterson is a Canadian film and TV actor, a dancer and model. She gained recognition with her role of ‘Olivia Matheson’ in the ‘ABC Family’ series ‘Ravenswood,’ and also as ‘Ophelia Pryce’ on ‘E! Network’s’ soap opera ‘The Royals.’ Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, she took part in the dance competitions and theatrical productions from the young age of 11. At 15, she appeared on commercials, and at 16 years, she won ‘Teen Model Search’ from among 10,000 competitors. When her height posed difficulties in the way of a modeling career, she turned towards acting. Starting with minor roles, Patterson made her movie debut with the film ‘The Hole,’ followed by appearances in ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief’; ‘Radio Rebel’; ‘Rufus’ and other films. Her performances in the series ‘Ravenswood,’ and ‘The Royals’ brought her appreciation and roles in films including ‘Primary,’ ‘Wolves,’ ‘Unbroken: Path of Redemption,’ and series such as ‘The Art of More,’ ‘Motive,’ and others. She has also portrayed major characters in several ‘Hallmark Channel’ TV films including, ‘A Royal Winter,’ ‘The Christmas Cottage,’ ‘Christmas at the Palace,’ among others. Reportedly Patterson is presently dating J.R. Ringer.
Childhood & Early Life
Patterson was born on September 2, 1990, in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, to Dave Patterson (father). She has a sister, MacKenzie Patterson. [Details of her family or education are not shared on the media].
At the age of 11, she began participating in dance competitions and theatrical productions, and continued through her high school years. At 15, Patterson received her first assignment of a UNO commercial, and also appeared in the TV commercials for the ‘Roger Touch Phones.’ Out of 10,000 competitors, she won ‘Teen Model Search’ (2006), sponsored by Canadian Herbal Essences.’ However, due to her moderate height, she found it difficult to book modeling assignments.

Patterson made her acting debut in 2006 with a guest starring role as ‘Ashleigh Redmond’ in the ‘ABC Family’ series ‘Kyle XY.’ Following this, she received minor parts in TV and movies. She appeared as ‘a cheerleader’ in the series ‘Supernatural’ (2009). She was based at Vancouver, but later moved to Los Angeles.
She played the role of ‘Jessica’ in the movie ‘The Hole’ (2009), which marked her movie debut. The following year Patterson was seen in the movie ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief’ (2010). This movie was a commercial success.

However, the series which started in October, 2013, proved short lived and was cancelled in February, 2014. Patterson received recognition for her work in it.
In 2014, Patterson appeared as ‘Sara Jasper’ in the movie ‘Primary,’ and as ‘Nicole Greffard’ in the film ‘Kid Cannabis.’ The same year, she portrayed the starring role of ‘Angelina Timmins’ in the Canadian action horror film ‘Wolves,’ wherein she appeared opposite Jason Momoa.
In 2014, she was cast in the main role of ‘Ophelia Pryce’ in the season one of E! Network’s primetime soap opera, ‘The Royals’ (2015). This role brought her accolades.
In 2016, Patterson got the role of ‘Olivia Brukner’ (the daughter of the character played by Dennis Quaid), in the second season of the ‘Crackle TV’ drama series ‘The Art of More.’ She performed the role of ‘Cynthia’ in the Christian drama film of 2018, ‘Unbroken: Path of Redemption.’
Patterson appeared in a number of films for the ‘Hallmark Channel’ – she was seen as ‘Maggie Marks’ in ‘A Royal Winter’ (2017); as ‘Lacey Quinn’ in ‘The Christmas Cottage’ (2017); as ‘Abby Russo’ in ‘Wedding March 4: Something Old, Something New’ (2018); as ‘Katie’ in 2018’s ‘Christmas at the Palace’; and as ‘Sophie’ in ‘Picture a Perfect Christmas’ (2019).
