LisaRaye McCoy is an American actress, model, fashion designer, and businesswoman. She is best known for her role as Diane Armstrong in the comedy film ‘The Players Club’. She also played a main role in the popular comedy series ‘Single Ladies’. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, she studied at Eastern Illinois University, where she began pursuing her acting career. She made her film debut playing the lead role in the independent film ‘Reasons’. In the ensuing years, she played guest roles in shows, such as ‘Moesha’ and ‘In the House’. She came to popularity with her role in the comedy film ‘The Players Club’. The film did quite well financially. Later, she played the role of Neesee James, in the comedy series ‘All of Us’. She was nominated for the NAACP Image Award for her role in the show. She was once married to Michael Misick, the former chief minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

LisaRaye McCoy’s first important role was in the independent film ‘Reasons’ (1996), which was directed by Monty Ross. She also played guest roles in TV shows such as ‘Moesha’ and ‘In the House’ in the following years.
She gained popularity with her role in the comedy drama film ‘The Players Club’ in 1998. Directed by Ice Cube in his directional debut, the film also included actors, such as Bernie Mac and Monica Calhoun. Made on a budget of $5 million, the film did quite well financially, earning around $23 million. The next year, she was seen in the “coming of age” drama film ‘The Wood’, which was directed by Rick Famuyiwa.
In the ensuing years, she appeared in films such as ‘All About You’ (2001), which was directed by Christine Swanson. The film won multiple awards including the ‘Best Film Award’ at the Black Film Festival. She was seen in the action drama film ‘Gang of Roses’, which was a huge success commercially.
From 2003 to 2007, she was seen in the American sitcom ‘All of Us’. The show revolved around Robert James, a divorced TV reporter, his son, and his fiancée, Tia Jewel, a kindergarten teacher, who supported him after the breakup of his first marriage. McCoy played his ex-wife, Neesee, with whom he has a cordial relationship for his son’s sake.
Over the years, she appeared in films like ‘Beauty Shop’ (2005), ‘Contradictions of the Heart’ (2009) and ‘Hawthorne’ (2011). From 2011 to 2014, she played an important role in the sitcom ‘Single Ladies’. The show also included actors, such as Kassandra Clementi, Stacey Dash, DB Woodside and Travis Winfrey. She portrayed Keisha Greene, a former music video model who starts playing poker. McCoy’s more recent works include ‘Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story’, a 2016 TV movie, and the 2018 movie ‘The Proposal’.

LisaRaye McCoy was born in Chicago, Illinois, in US, on September 23, 1967. Her father was David Ray McCoy, a businessman, and her mother was Katie McCoy, a model. She grew up in the south side of Chicago, where she attended St. James College Prep, Kenwood Academy and later Thornridge High School, from where she graduated in 1985. She then studied at Eastern Illinois University.
LisaRaye McCoy has been married twice. Her first marriage was with Tony Martin from 1992 to 1994, and her second marriage was with Michael Misick, from 2006 to 2008.
She has a daughter named Kai Morae Pace, from a previous relationship with Kenji Pace.
