Lela Maria Loren Avellaneda Sharp, better known as Lela Loren, is an American TV and film actor. She is best recognized for playing ‘Angela Valdes,’ one of the lead roles in the ‘Starz’-aired American crime-drama TV series ‘Power.’ Lela developed a keen interest in acting after she was mistakenly offered acting classes in college and then eventually pursued it as her profession. She caught the attention of people after featuring in single-episode roles of the popular American police-procedural TV series ‘Cold Case,’ ‘CSI: Miami,’ and ‘CSI: NY.’ Following this, she appeared in single episodes of several other hit TV series, such as ‘The Shield,’ ‘NCIS,’ and ‘Lost.’ She earned a main role in the web series ‘H+: The Digital Series.’ Her big-screen pursuits include some of the biggest movies of Hollywood, such as the blockbuster hit action flick ‘Snitch’ (starring Dwayne Johnson) and the comedy film ‘The Hangover Part III’ (starring Bradley Cooper). Childhood & Early Life
Lela Loren was born Lela Maria Loren Avellaneda Sharp, on May 7, 1980, in Sacramento, California, US, to a European father and a Mexican mother. She was raised in Sacramento, along with her elder brother, Daniel Loren. The latter grew up to become a chef. Lela once mentioned that after turning 10, she learned Spanish so that she could speak to her maternal relatives. Apart from English and Spanish, Lela can also speak Italian.
Not much is known about her early life or education. However, it is known that she was initially interested in biology, but as destiny would have it, Lela was offered acting classes in college by chance. She participated in many drama events in her college. With time, she developed interest in the field and felt that it could be a prospective career for her.

Career
Lela made her acting debut in 2006, playing ‘Ana Castilla’ in an episode of the popular ‘CBS’-aired American police-procedural TV series ‘Cold Case,’ titled ‘Sanctuary.’ This was followed by single-episode appearances in two other American police-procedural TV series, namely ‘CSI: Miami’ (2006) and ‘CSI: NY’ (2006). She was seen as Isabella Mansera in an episode of ‘CSI: Miami,’ titled ‘Shock,’ and as ‘Jo O’Keff’ in an episode of ‘CSI: NY,’ titled ‘Sweet 16.’ She also forayed into films, essaying the role of ‘Yola’ in the film ‘Between the Lines,’ which released on March 7, 2006.
She played a dental hygienist in the commercially successful American buddy drama film ‘Reign Over Me.’ The film released in March 2007 and starred Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle, and Jada Pinkett Smith among others. That year, she also appeared in two episodes of the popular American crime-drama TV series ‘The Shield,’ in the role of ‘Nydia Hernandez,’ and in a single episode of the American supernatural TV series ‘Ghost Whisperer,’ as ‘Anna Sanchez.’
She starred as ‘Salazar,’ along with Mark Erman and Thomas F Evans, in the short drama film ‘Flotsam.’ The film was released at the ‘Los Angeles Outfest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival’ on July 18, 2008.
The American action film ‘The Reunion,’ which released on October 21, 2011, and starred John Cena and Ethan Embry among others, featured Lela as ‘Theresa Trujillo.’ Meanwhile, she continued making single-episode appearances in several TV series. She portrayed the recurring role of ‘Silvia’ in the American action–drama TV series ‘Gang Related.’ The series that aired on ‘Fox ‘for a season, from May 22, 2014, to August 14 that year, featured her in eight of its 13 episodes.
She got a big break when she was cast as ‘Angela Valdes,’ a main character in the American crime drama TV series ‘Power.’ The ongoing series, in which she stars opposite Omari Hardwick, premiered on June 7, 2014, on ‘Starz.’ The series has had five successful seasons and is quite popular.
