Kyle Giersdorf began playing video games when he was three years old. As he grew up, gaming became a prevalent part of his life. In 2017, North Carolina-based software development company Epic Games released Fortnite. Three versions of the game have been published to date: ‘Fortnite: Save the World’, ‘Fortnite Battle Royale’, and ‘Fortnite Creative’. In April 2019, Kyle Giersdorf took part in the Epic Games' World Cup Warmup before he and his team competed in the first iteration of the Fortnite World Cup. Hosted online and offline between April and July, the tournament had a $40 million (some sources say $30 million) prize pool. Kyle Giersdorf and his teammates participated in solo and duo events. On 2 June 2019, he won $800 with Carose at the WC 2019 NAE Qualifiers - Week 8. As a solo player, during game one of the World Cup, he registered nine eliminations and earned the Victory Royale. On July 28, 2019, the solo event finals were hosted at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York, the longtime home of the US Open. Recording 59 points against the first runner up Harrison Chang’s (Psalm) 33 points, Kyle Giersdorf won the solo event.
The large prize pool had already drawn mainstream media attention to the tournament. The fact that a 16-year-old has become one of the champions has led them to speculate on the longevity of Fortnite and e-sports in general. Several articles have been written on him and he has made an appearance on NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. When he was asked what he wanted to do with his winnings, he said that he wishes to save it. “All I want is a new desk and maybe a desk for my trophy,” he told the BBC.
In July 2019, he won the Trio Cash Cup 2 – NAE with Aspect and Animal.

Kyle Giersdorf was born on December 30, 2002, in the United States of America, and is being raised by his parents in Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania. His mother’s name is Darcy. His nickname comes from his grandfather, who used to call him Bugha when he was younger. In the fall of 2019, he will be a high-school junior.
