Kyle Gallner is an American actor who is best known for his portrayal of Cassidy Casablancas in the drama series ‘Veronica Mars’ and Reed Garrett in the police drama ‘CSI: NY’. On the big screen, he is known for his work in many horror films, primarily in ‘Jennifer's Body’ and ‘The Haunting in Connecticut’. Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Gallner grew up alongside three siblings. His routine of following his sister, an aspiring actress, to auditions landed him roles on television shows. Following his graduation from West Chester East High School, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting as a fulltime career. Gallner’s first performance as an actor was in an episode of 'Third Watch' in 2000. Since then, he has acted in over 25 TV shows and movies. Behind the screen, he is a married man and the father of two sons.
Kyle Gallner made his first television appearance in 2000, in an episode of 'Third Watch'. The following year, he made his film debut with the satirical comedy 'Wet Hot American Summer'. This was followed by his guest appearances in numerous TV shows, including 'Smallville' and 'Skater Boys'. In 2005, the actor had a lead role as Cassidy Casablancas in the teen noir mystery drama series 'Veronica Mars'. That year, he also starred in Wes Craven's psychological thriller 'Red Eye'. The film, following a hotel manager trapped in an assassination plot on a flight, was a commercial hit.
During 2006 and 2007, Gallner played the recurring role of Jason Embry in HBO’s ‘Big Love’. During this time, he also featured in ‘Sublime’, a horror film starring Tom Cavanagh, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Kathleen York, and Katherine Cunningham-Eves. Also in 2007, the actor joined the cast of ‘CSI: NY’ as Reed Garrett, a role he played until 2011. This was followed by his recurring role in the crime drama series ‘The Shield’.
The year 2009 saw Gallner in two horror movies, ‘The Haunting in Connecticut’ and ‘Jennifer's Body’. While both films were only moderate successes, his performances were appreciated by the critics. Following a role in the comedy flick ‘Cherry’, the actor did another horror film, ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. Released in 2010, the film focuses on a group of youngsters living on a street, who are murdered in their dreams by a strange man. A year later, Gallner played Jared in ‘Red State’. His performance in the independent horror thriller earned him a Fright Meter Award nomination.
In 2012, Gallner earned appreciation for his work in the TV drama ‘Jan’ and in the drama flick 'Smashed'. Two years later, he appeared as himself in the comedy web television series ‘Play It Again, Dick’. Also in 2014, he starred in ‘Dear White People’, a comedy drama flick focusing on the escalating racial tensions at a fictional college. This was followed by his role in the comedy movie ‘Welcome to Happiness’. From 2016 to 2017, the actor starred in the sitcom ‘Outsiders’.
