Kirsten Corley Biography

Kirsten Corley was born on May 31, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois. Bennett is an Illinois native as well. Little is known about her family and childhood. She and Bennett have known each other since they were both teenagers and have grown up together. While several reports mention that they are childhood sweethearts, it is not clear if she attended Jones College Prep High School, of which Bennett was a student.

Corley is an incredibly private individual. Both she and Bennett have striven to maintain their personal life and his public life as Chance the Rapper completely separate. According to reports, she has done some modelling work. In 2014, she was part of an editorial shoot, during which she wore an oversized white t-shirt and boxy maroon bomber jacket from Alexander Wang’s Autumn/Winter collection.

Having known each other for years, Corley and Bennett started dating in 2013. At the time, Chance the Rapper had already established himself as one of the most talented, up-and-coming singer-songwriters of his genre. His mixtape ‘10 Day’ (2012) had garnered significant media and public attention, and he had worked with the likes of Childish Gambino. In April 2013, he put out ‘Acid Rap’, which became a massive success. Not long after, he and Corley started their relationship.

Two years later, in July 2015, Bennett revealed that they were expecting their first child. In September 2015, the couple welcomed their daughter, Kensli Bennett, to the world. However, they decided not to publish any photograph of hers immediately on social media; her first picture appeared on Bennett’s Instagram account on December 31, 2016. At her birth, Corley and Bennett found out that she has atrial flutter. Bennett has stated the situation made him re-examine his personal beliefs. Although he grew up Christian, he later stopped believing. His daughter’s condition prompted him to rediscover his faith.

Corley and Bennett were having relationship issues during this period. It got so bad that they eventually started living separately. In May 2016, Corley reached out to the court, seeking the declaration of Bennett as the father as well as the sole custody of Kensli and wanting him to pay child support. In February 2017, the case was revisited in order to find a common ground between Corley and Bennett on child support terms and a parenting schedule. They were not living together at the time. In March 2017, an article published in the Chicago Sun-Times detailed the contention between them. In his response, Bennett stated the following "Y'all better do y'all jobs and stop worrying about how good my family is. Just a friendly reminder. Don't let anybody get between you and your family." The contention was eventually brought to an end out of court and they eventually reconciled.

In 2018, during a social gathering on the US Independence Day, Bennett got down on one knee to ask Corley if she would marry him. When she said yes, Bennett asked their daughter to come to them. A video containing footage of the proposal was later posted on social media and it has since gone viral.

On her 25th birthday, Bennett wished her through a post on Instagram, writing that she is the reason for every wonderful thing in his life and dubbing her his oldest and best friend. According to reports published by the ‘Chicago Tribune,’ Corley and Bennett legalized their union on December 27, 2018, in a civil ceremony at the Cook County clerk's office in Chicago. The public ceremony took place in the afternoon of March 9, 2019, at the luxurious Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California. The groom wore a dashing white tuxedo with a black bow while Corley looked mesmerising in a white Galia Lahav strapless gown. However, they were both upstaged by Kensli, who sprinted across the aisle to steal a hug during the nuptials. The wedding was attended by about 150 guests.
