Kap G is a Mexican-American rapper and singer, best known for his hit single ‘Girlfriend.’ After starting his career in 2011, Kap G has gone from strength to strength, collaborating with lead artists, such as Wiz Khalifa, Chief Keef, Clifford Joseph Harris Jr. (T.I.), and Jeezy. Kap G’s wonderful ability to remix the songs of other artists earned him recognition and a subsequent deal with ‘Atlantic Records,’ which turned out to be his big breakthrough. After securing a life-changing deal with ‘Atlantic Recording Corporation’ in 2015, Kap G released his hit mixtape ‘El Southside’ in 2016, which featured artists like YFN Lucci and Young Thug. The mixtape had one of his biggest hit singles titled ‘Girlfriend,’ which received a Gold certification by ‘Recording Industry Association of America’ (RIAA). Childhood & Early Life
Kap G was born George Ramirez on July 31, 1994, in College Park, Georgia, United States of America to parents of Mexican origin. He was raised in the Atlanta metropolitan area in Georgia. Kap G had a tough childhood as he found it very difficult to make friends in a neighborhood that had a predominant African-American population.
He had ‘Fulton County School System’ education at ‘Tri-Cities High School’ at East Point, Georgia. After graduating from ‘Tri-Cities High School,’ Kap G told his parents that he wanted to pursue a career in the field of music, which did not go down well with them as his parents wanted him to pursue higher education.
However, Kap G was clear about becoming famous through his music. Having been bullied during his childhood, Kap G wanted to achieve something substantial in order to prove to others what he was capable of. Hence, he started focusing on music and joined a teen group called ‘Kids At Play’ (KAP). ‘KAP’ along with his initial ‘G’ would later become his stage name.

Kap G made a big breakthrough by collaborating with the famous rapper and record producer Chief Keef. In 2012, Chief Keef was featured on Kap G’s single titled ‘Tatted Like Amigos,’ which marked his debut as a rapper. In 2013, he released another single called ‘Jose Got Dem Tacos,’ which featured another popular rapper, Jeezy. He also worked on a number of remixes by remixing songs of other artists. On March 7, 2016, Kap G released another mixtape titled ‘El Southside,’ which went on to become one of his biggest hits. The mixtape featured artists like YFN Lucci, Young Thug, and Cash Out. The mixtape contained one of his biggest hit singles ‘Girlfriend,’ which received Gold certification by the RIAA.
He then came up with his debut album titled ‘SupaJefe,’ which was released on April 14, 2017. For the album, Kap G collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown, Dae Dae, and Pharrell Williams.
In 2018, Kap G joined hands with Paty Cantú and Sofia Reyes for a song titled ‘Vamos por la Estrella.’ The song was dedicated to the national soccer team of Mexico to celebrate the team’s entry into the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Kap G is one of the few Mexican rappers to have made it big on the international stage. Putting his Mexican ethnicity to best use, Kap G often incorporates Mexican culture into his music, which has gained him massive Mexican fan following. He also pays tribute to Mexico and its culture through his lyrics. Another major factor that has made Kap G popular is the fact that he is a bilingual rapper, who raps fluently in both English and Spanish languages.
Kap G is also famous for his remixes as he has remixed hit songs of several other artists. IApart from appearing in numerous music videos, Kap G has also appeared in a TV series called ‘Wild 'N Out.’ He was also seen in a 2 hour 20 minute music video titled ‘Town Bizzness Pt 2.’
Apart from featuring Kap G in many of its articles, ‘XXL’ magazine also nominated him for ‘XXL Freshman 2015.’ In 2016, his single titled ‘Girlfriend,’ which ended up becoming one of his biggest hits, earned a Gold certification by the RIAA. Though the song did not make it to the list of ‘Billboard Hot 100,’ it did peak at number 10 on the ‘Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles’ chart. On June 12, 2017, ‘XXL’ magazine announced that it has included Kap G’s name in the list of the magazine’s annual freshman class. He was included alongside artists like A Boogie wit da Hoodie, XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, Aminé, and MadeinTYO.
Personal Life & Family
Kap G has five siblings (four brothers and a sister). Since he grew up with them, he is close to all his siblings and likes spending time with them. He also loves hanging around with his friends and likes playing basketball, which is his favorite game. Not much is known about his parents or his girlfriend/partner.
