Harvey Weinstein Encounter
On December 8, 2017, Kaitlin Doubleday wrote a guest column in 'The Hollywood Reporter' to share the story of her own encounter with sexual abuse accused film producer Harvey Weinstein in 2009, when she 25 years old. She first met him at the premiere of his film 'Inglorious Basterds', which she attended with her sister Portia Doubleday, who had acted in another of his movies, 'Youth in Revolt'. Her initial impression of him was not bad, and he had also promised to give her a copy of her sister's film which she had not watched by then. However, taking this opportunity, he set up a couple meetings with her at the Montage Beverly Hills restaurant. Kaitlin, who had already heard 'whispers' about how he sexually harassed women, decided to meet him nevertheless because she was struggling for years in the industry and "wanted to believe he was just recognizing the talent I saw within myself." During their meal there, he offered her to come to his room to watch some footage and help him decide the appropriate ending to 'Nine'. In her article, she opened up about why she decided to go with him despite knowing what he wanted from her. According to her, women "have fewer opportunities", "don't make as much money", "are judged by our looks and are torn apart as we age" – which is why it "can be tempting to enter the one [door] that remains open." She detailed how after a small talk about movies and books, he continued to make vulgar requests like giving him a message after he showered. She eventually turned him down, but still jokes with friends how she would have 'Oscars' to display at her home had she said "yes" back then.

Kaitlin attended a musical program at the Music Academy at Hamilton High School in Los Angeles.
