Jazmin Grace Grimaldi was born on March 4, 1992, to Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and Tamara Jean Rotolo, a real estate agent, in Palm Springs, California, USA.

Her parents met on a vacation in 1991 and indulged in a brief affair. Prince Albert severed all connections with her mother once Jazmin was born, but her mother reportedly continued to fight for Jazmin’s rights, including a paternity suit in 1992.

She is the eldest child of Prince Albert and the half-sister of Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, who was also born out of wedlock. Her father has two legitimate children, Princess Gabriella, Countess of Carladès, and Jacques, Hereditary Prince of Monaco.

Jazmin grew up in Orange County and Palm Desert, California, where she lived with her mother. She had no idea about her father, but was aware of her paternal grandmother, Grace Kelly, by means of her photographs and movies.

At the age 11, she came to know of her father, Prince Albert, and went to meet him in Monaco. In June 2006, Prince Albert publicly accepted her as his daughter and while doing so, he stated that he stayed away in order to protect her identity. They share a positive relationship now.

As per the ‘Constitution of Monaco’s’ articles for line of succession, she will never have a title or a claim to the royal throne since her parents never married.

She was a brilliant student and graduated from ‘St. Margaret's Episcopal School’ and later from ‘JSerra High School’ in 2010.

Much like her grandmother, she enjoyed the performing arts and harbored dreams of becoming an actress. At school, she was a soloist in the school choir.

As an honour student, she became a lifetime member of ‘The California Scholarship Federation’ and received numerous awards upon graduation from high school.

In 2014, she graduated from ‘Fordham University’ in New York.

Career

In 2006, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi made her first television appearance on the talk show ‘Good Morning America’.

She is also a talented singer and sang in a college band for a few years. In early 2014, she embarked on a solo career, starting with ‘Fall in Love With Jaz’, a cabaret-style show that was showcased at ‘Duplex Theatre’ in Manhattan, New York.

In 2016, she played the minor role of a cashier in the television series ‘Jay & Pluto’. In 2017, she was seen in the leading role of a young woman ‘Mora’ in the short sci-fi film ‘The Scarlet M’.

In 2018, the multi-talented Jazmin participated in the ‘28th Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc’, which is a women’s only rally, and was placed third in one of the events. That year, she also announced that her first single ‘Fearless’ would be released soon.

In early 2019, she revealed on Instagram that she would be seen in the new season of the Amazon series ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’. In October, she released her new music single ‘Fearless’. She will also soon be seen in the film ‘Cicada’ that is currently in post-production stages.

In 2006, at age 14, she went on a humanitarian mission to Fiji and assisted in community development, medical aid and education projects. After her visit, she also established ‘The Jazmin Fund’ for providing humanitarian aid to rural areas of Fiji and enabling essential community projects in the region.

She is part of the ‘Embrace Ambition’ campaign started by American designer, Tory Burch, which works for women’s empowerment causes.

She also supports causes that spread awareness about climate change like the ‘Climate Strike’ movement, and attends marches to bring about a change.

On October 1, 2019, she revealed that all sale proceeds from her newly released single ‘Fearless’, which is being sold online for just $0.99, will go to ‘The Jazmin Fund’. The funds will be used to build art-focused community centers in Fiji.

In 2006, her father mentioned in an interview that all his children would have a share in his personal wealth, estimated to be upwards of one billion dollars.

In 2012, she made an appearance at the ‘Princess Grace Awards’ 30th anniversary celebrations in the company of her father and stepmother.

In 2018, she attended her father’s 60th birthday celebrations in Monaco.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi is currently in a long-term relationship with model and musician, Ian Mellencamp, and lives in New York City.
